How do I fit my growing family into my car?
I drive a 5 door Toyota Auris (corolla) and my wife and I have our first child on the way. Now there's plenty of room for us and a baby, but we also have a dog who rides in the boot (trunk) on car journeys.
My question is, how do I take my dog and baby plus all the luggage on car journeys? Will I need a roof box, trailer or new car?

My parents had a similarly-sized Toyota when I was a youngster. There were two children and a dog.
We had a trailer and a roof rack. Neither are ideal because they both make it harder to drive. But I would say that a roof rack would be the better option. Trailers can be difficult to handle (they can destabilize the car in high winds, at the higher speeds of motorways / freeways, and they are a huge pain to park.
But for now, since you only have one kid, I would simply put the dog on the back seat (use a blanket to cover the seat and a pillow to separate the dog from the baby) and reclaim the boot / trunk. Good luck.

Get a roof rack for the luggage, not the dog. Have your wife and baby ride in the back seat safely with a baby seat and secure your dog safely in the boot with a dog car harness, attached securely to an anchor latch in the boot. You drive in the front seat and still plenty of room around other areas of your existing car for everyone to travel safely. Bergan make safety tested car harnesses for dogs.

Roof boxes are great! I have one they are easy to put on and easy enough to put things in to them! I would highly recommend it! :)
