accidently ate undercooked chicken, will i get food poison?

Just cooked chicken from frozen for 25 mins as suggested on the packet. I have a bad habit of not checking the meat before eating. The middle was slightly undercooked but the outside was fine. Will this trigger food poisoning? Also, when will signs of food poisoning start to show?

Very unlikely, food poisoning is actually a misnomer. It is poisoning caused by bacteria which live on the food, like Salmonella or E.Coli. These are enteric bacteria that produce toxins and either release or store these toxins within themselves. It is sort of a scorched earth policy, if the bacteria are killed by say other bacteria - the toxins are released and other bacteria are killed themselves. However these bacteria can also be killed by cooking and stomach acid. If chicken is left out too long the bacteria will multiply to the point where they can make you sick. However if clean chicken is not cooked completely the bacteria will not have time to multiply and make you sick. Only very undercooked (raw) chicken can cause bacteria to enter the gut as partially cooked will generally kill the bacteria. This causes an infection, and not technically food poisoning. However poisoning can cause stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, muscle cramps, along with other symptoms.

    Hope this helps.

The most common disease we get from chicken is Salmonella. Chances are, you will be fine since this is a frozen product and hopefully you didn't eat a lot of the undercooked chicken. Also, a much lesser percentage of chickens carry salomonella than those that don't.

Most persons infected with Salmonella develop diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps 12 to 72 hours after infection. The illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days, and most persons recover without treatment. However, in some persons, the diarrhea may be so severe that the patient needs to be hospitalized. My advice would be to see a doctor immediatelty, if you develop symptoms even if they are not severe.

It can but probably won't. Most cooking temperatures for chicken are established to make sure any or all possible bacteria are killed in the cooking process but some die much earlier, and at lower temperatures. It's possible the chicken you ate had most of the bacteria killed off, but was not cooked quite enough to be considered done or fully safe. Effects can take a few hours to develop as bacteria can affect people differently. We recommend cooking with a thermometer to make sure you are never exposed to undercooked meat. Raw meat always contains bacteria, but your body is usually able to fight bacteria and kill it before it can affect you, sometimes, it doesn't work out that way and the body cannot immediately kill bacteria…

if this occurs, u might get signs of diarrhea. upset stomach, headache, about 1 to 3 hours from when u ate it… u may also have nausea… it is basically nothing that won't go in a few days…

hope it works out for u, I know that in some countries, people eat raw meat as a habit or delicacy, most people there aren't usually affected, or only minorly affected… but no culture eats raw chicken, chicken is more known to cause food poisoning…

I had food poisoning once (from some bad food my uncle made me - ugh) and it's generally a few hours after. I got a fever and then it was the runs, vomiting for the next week. Don't eat anything except for plain bread, rice - but you'll probably lose your appetite anyway. And buy some stomach cramp pills.

I really hope you won't get it.

No way of knowing. I wouldn't worry about it though. I would imagine if you do get sick it would be within a few hours. People eat raw things all the time without getting sick. Most of my family enjoys raw beef all the time.....they call it rare...I call it raw.....tomato....tomaato.
