Is it possible to get into a good college or university with average(at best) grades?

I'm a freshman in high school, and things are already not going well...I've gotten B's and C's in math(Algebra 2 Trigonometry)...F's in foreign languages(and then I was removed from the class since I was doing so horribly),D's and C's in Geography, and mostly B's in other classes.

Will this greatly affect my chances of getting into a good college?

You probably will need to start at community college unless you make a tremendous improvement.

You will need at least two years of the same foreign language with grades of at least C to meet the requirements of almost all universities.

It is a fact that the top universities would be seeing the overall background of student before giving admission. so things might get a bit difficult for you but there can be other options to it. if there is any particular subject in which you are good at and are very much interested then you can work on making that your strong point. you cant take the help of your respective professors for the concerned subject and write research papers on it and get recommendation letters from professors for it, etc. in short make the university believe you are good at something and wish to pursue it ahead by studying there. i guess this would help in getting you to a quite descent university!!
