Why is homosexuality not a paraphilia anymore?

Now before any one accuses me of homophobic, firstly i'm a medical student who supports gay rights. I don't mean paraphilia in any negative light or as a negative term, but honestly just want to know why it's not a paraphilia anymore. It fits the scientific definiton of one, and should techncially be considered a paraphilia. And please, no "It's because homosexuality is an accepted trait": I understand that. I want to know the scientific reason behind why it was debunked as a paraphilia; i'm a man of science, after all :P

I need a scientific explanation... not "Because two people can love each other and that's accepted now". I UNDERSTAND THAT MUCH! I wouldn't be asking this question if i knew why. Google seems to think it was pollitical correctness, but my professor said there was a scientific argument, but i can't find it anywhere.

Help me out, LGBT :(

I'm a doctor in training...

I was doing physiological implications of physical issues, and one was the development of paraphilias after traumatic events. However, while we were discussing this in lecture, my professor said that homosexuality was NOT considered a paraphilia.

Please, shut the **** up if you don't have an answer; i'm not a homophobe, i'm not stupid, i'm simply a guy trying to find answers.

    A paraphilia is something described as a form of sexual conduct that is considered extreme and could lead to distress to either partners. Homosexuality doesn't fit in the category as a paraphilia because no one is being harmed or having their security affected in a negative way.

    Here is how Homosexuality works, The opposite of Heterosexuality. So if one is a Paraphilia the other has to be as well, it's only common sense after all. Cause you know, I'm an actual man of science. After all...

    Noted: Sexual Orientation has been proven to be caused by hormones in the womb, this was proven in the Identical Twin study. In which if when both twins are born; If one of the twins is gay the other twin has a seventy percent chance of also being gay. Proving that it is a natural occurrence, that deals with hormones in the womb. Not genetics or choice, sexual orientation is an inborn trait that can not be changed.

    Traumatic events to not cause Sexual Orientation, it may cause someone to realize their sexual orientation ahead of most people though. This has been proven in several cases of Molestation & rape...

    Noted part 2: I don't know why I'm getting all the thumbs down, I wasn't sure if you where seriously you could simple told me that. I did give you scientific evidence though, so why exactly am I getting thumbed down?

    It's not considered paraphilia because it doesn't fit the actual, modern definition. Go read a book that was printed more recently!

    (Paraphillia) replaced into seen a psychological ailment via the AMA up till 1972. whilst gay people have been given the deserved outstanding to be seen "unfastened from deviancy" The term replaced into no longer used anymore. in case you seem in some previous scientific books that is there, yet you already understand, you stated it on your question (that is not any longer counted as a psychopathology anymore.) so the term and that is connotation have been no longer used to describe homosexuality.
