Homosexuality, old testament and Jesus?

We don't follow old testament laws after Jesus, no? If Jesus did not admonish homosexuality is it improper to selectively follow old testament laws on homosexuality and ignore all the food laws for example? Does homosexuality fall under Jesus' teaching, "Mark 7:15 There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him:"?

i always wonder at the motive of such questions .but - i am a christian so i will speak honestly . why the churches have so plastered anti gay messages i do not know - what i mean by that is - yes its wrong - so is theft and adultery ,so is gluttony and covetousness (always wanting bigger bright flasher) .

it is an imbalanced activity by some segments of Christianity causing them to lose sight of the very cause they are supposed to pursue .

the lord Jesus told us to go and ...point out those bad people that are doing bad things ??? RUBBISH. he told us to go out and preach the good news that if you believe in the lord Jesus any wrong can be forgiven you if you believe and repent -

my apologies to gay folk who missed that message in the midst of all that finger pointing .

add- and remember when Paul wrote those things consider to whom he was writing -- to the Christians ! he was telling THEM not to do those things . i mean come on .. Christians should do christian things -

non-Christians will always do Non-christian things -until they are saved - then they will change .even Paul said he cannot judge the world for its worldliness . but judgment begins with the house of God . we are more accountable then they (though both will be held to account ) because we know better.

add - ED is both right and wrong . right in that sodomy is the sin referred to - wrong in that Christians practice it . right to say that not only gays do it - made me laugh Ed, in our wrongful judgmental stance through the 70's to now we have made a lop hole for non gays to sodomize .. red faced are we lol

Both the old and new testaments speak against homosexuality. What Jesus meant is that nothing physical like germs can defile you spiritually. If you put beer in your body and get drunk- this is a spiritual sin- you are defiled. Homosexuality is a sin.

1Corinthians 6:9 Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be deceived: No sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, or anyone practicing homosexuality,[d] 10 no thieves, greedy people, drunkards, verbally abusive people, or swindlers will inherit God’s kingdom.

We are no longer living under the law, we are now living under grace. But we are to still live in such a way that pleases God. Although the law is no longer, the old testament does show us God's holiness and nature. Thanks to the Old Testament we have a clear understanding of what pleases and does not please God. While Jesus did remove the payment of sin, we can not use that as a ticket to continue to live our life the way we want and totally disregarding ourselves.

    Hope this helps.

It is the scripture which says that sexual sin is a sin against your own body.

Sexual sin includes all sex outside of marriage.

Jesus did forgive the woman who was being stoned to death for adultery.

The punishment was stoning to death.

The woman in adultery at the well was forgiven and told to sin no more. This forgiveness seemed conditional upon her stopping picking up ''husbands''.

Since all sexual activity is considered sin outside of marriage, it would stand to reason that this would include homosexuality.

Gluttony is like drunkenness, A real alcoholic will almost never admit to being drunk even if he blacks out and has witnesses. The Bible does not condemn drinking alcohol but speaks against being immoderate with drink. I have been in churches that were very judgmental about their members being overweight. It depends on the denomination.

  • Being gay is not prohibited anywhere in Scripture. The term "homosexuality" was not even coined until the late Nineteenth Century. Those using the Bible to justify their inability to control their sinful homophobic urges need to repent.

here is what JESUS stated regarding sexuality and marriage

And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

    (Mat 19:4-5)

How funny that you change what the Bible says to suit your taste there Kelly; because, the Bible does not say homosexuals, it says sodomy. Sodomy, by definition, is any anal or oral sexual act, or any sexual act performed with an animal. I wonder how many Christians perform oral sex or have anal sex. Amusing to think how many are sinning and yet think it's alright if they do it.
