Atheists: Do you think perhaps that people who say we have no morality...?

if we don't believe in God and heaven and sin, perhaps they would be the immoral ones without the constant threat of eternal torment? Why is morality such a conundrum to these people that they think unless it came from God-on-high that we can't possibly understand how to be moral creatures? Why do they think the animal world has no morality, either? When's the last time you heard of anyone other than human beings doing something immoral?

Update:

Sorry Saddle Shoes.. I wasn't aware of that bonobo thing. That's kinda sick. But... I hate to point this out, they are primates, like us. Maybe it's a primate thing?

They just say that because if they admitted that we can be good human beings without the threat of eternal torture, it would negate their entire motivation for practicing their religion.

So you think adults having sex with infants (which is something the bonobo do regularly) is not immoral?

Generally, it is well-known that the more restrictions you set upon someone, the more they are likely to be tempted to break them, even if they would never think of that in another case. People always surprise me for failing to accept this obvious fact.

But, to answer your question I do not believe they would necessarily act that way, but I think they are afraid of that possibility deep down. Any logical person should be able to understand though, that amorality, immorality and atheism are 3 completely different things.

Such people just display the utter ignorance and stupidity of many believers, a complete inability to think but then that's what's required for belief in the first place.

Morals are opinions that lead to conflict. Fact is it is generally better to make friends rather than enemies. That means not imposing your will on others aka not playing god. Adam and Eve were kicked out of Eden for becoming "as gods."

The fact that they think they can lay claim to the moral high-ground is laughable. Has anything fostered more immorality than religion?

Everyone has a code of morality, even head hunters. Which demonstrates that morality that is not based on God's Law simply means doing whatever you want to do.
