Quitting Smoking. Does Skin Go Back to Normal?
I've smoked pretty heavily since I was 15. I'm 24 now and I noticed when I was halfway through 23 that I looked a lot older than I actually was. People would come up to me at work and say I looked like I was 30. That's when I seriously began considering quitting.
My forehead wrinkles quite a bit when I raise my eyebrows, and my neck has lines on it, like a farmer or something. It doesn't help that I inherited early onset male pattern baldness either.
It came on quit suddenly too. I had always been physically fit while also eating a very healthy diet . Then I started this direct sales job and started doing the whole fastfood thing. I only ate fast food and stopped going to the gym and started smoking much more. 5 months later, I was 20 pounds lighter, and seemingly 10 years older. Will my skin look at least better, or am I like this for good?

I only smoked for five years and wasn't really looking older when I quit so I don't know how much better it will get just from quitting smoking. I can tell you though that it was VERY VERY worth it. There are so many things aside from the health effects that you wouldn't even think of that are better when you quit. It takes a while to stop craving them, but once you get there it is fantastic. I also do have better general health. I used to cough and have colds all winter. Now I never get a cold and rarely have any coughing or other breathing issues. Even when half the people at work are sick I don't get it anymore. And it is great to be over the addiction. Just things like not having to think about having enough or having a working lighter on hand, or when I can have one. It's so much better, and you can be sure that it will make you look even older if you continue.
I'm 27 and I have started to notice myself not looking so baby faced just in the last three years. It's really interesting to me because I always looked like I was about 14 minus the acne. So I have paid some attention to it and found that when I'm living better I look better. I think it is as simple as the fact that the more you do to age yourself the faster you will age and vise versa. I even had a medical condition that a doctor told me could physically not get better without surgery, but it has gotten a lot better through lifestyle change. Quit smoking, exercise, get enough sleep, don't drink heavily or too often, and definitely quit eating fast food. That is just as bad as smoking. For convenience sake pack a lunch. It is worth it.
