Ever notice how being angry at someone will consume your thoughts?

Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.

Romans 8:5

Update:

supa star: where did you get all of that from my question?

Update 2:

Pasters: good verse, although not always very easy to do.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Phil 3:8

Update 3:

pastors: such a canned response

I believe you are quite right in this and that is why we are told to forgive. This frees us from this anger and prevents it causing us do something dreadful. Those who brood on their anger may well be those who commit horrendous crimes of passion.

I can be angry and not have it consume my thoughts.

It is not a sin to be angry, and I challenge you to point out "any Biblical verse" (cause, that's all you have) where it says otherwise.

But I WILL say that if you agree that "Being Angry is a Sin", then you have JUST ADMITTED that Jesus was NOT "without sin"....or, shall I post the verse of how Jesus handled the Merchants in the Temple?

John 2:13-16"The Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple he found people selling cattle, sheep, and doves, and the money changers seated at their tables. Making a whip of cords, he drove all of them out of the temple, both the sheep and the cattle. He also poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. He told those who were selling the doves, "Take these things out of here! Stop making my Father's house a marketplace!"

I understand that you have done what all Christians do: box themselves into a corner by making claims that you do not think through.

    So: You have three options:

    1) admit you made an error.

    2) delete your question, stick your fingers in your ears, say "La la la!" and pretend it never happened.

    3) ignore it completely, and go on living a life of ignorance.

    Additional Details

"supa star: where did you get all of that from my question?"

I think the OBVIOUS question is how did you NOT get all that from your question?

Just because some people can't think things through does not mean others will not.

There is such a thing as a just anger. That anger must be a controlled anger. Example: An employer may be angry with an employee because he made a serious mistake. But the employer realizes that this is a very good employee, so he controls his anger.

Yes you are right but Christians are not exempt from the emotion of anger which challenges our faith and give us no peace.

Having experienced such anger and against fellow Christians it takes sometimes the help of others to help you understand what you are dealing with and how to handle it.

The Holy Spirit comes through in the end when the peace of God embraces you once more.

The bible says, BE angry....AND sin not.

What you put is being angry and sinning, isn't it.

It is destructive to us. It consumes our thoughts like a fire.

If we are angry, and that anger then leads us to know how to

repair the problem, how to express ourselves better, then this

    was 'righteous anger'.

I was angry a few days ago with someone who talked loudly on

their cell phone at an internet cafe. I couldn't think.

I prayed (because I did not know this person, did not know what

I could expect), and they left soon after. Then I forgave them in

    my mind.

If I'd churned it over, gone at it, it would put my own mind in

a state of agitation, wouldn't it.

I think it's what we do with that anger. It's what we do next.

Where are some of these folks comin' from ed...you didn't say, or even infer, that anger is a sin...simply that if left unattended, as it were, it could consume one's being. And there are folks who do wake up in the morning mad, all day, and go to sleep mad every night, day after day, after week, month, and year after year...and then obviously go after even the folks who try to perpetuate peace and happiness I guess.

    Some quotes

Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.

In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves.

You will not be punished for your anger, you will be punished by your anger.

That's why it's important to focus on spiritually positive things like Paul suggests in Philippians 4:8.

@asker: No, it's not always easy to do. God takes up where I leave off and helps me do what i cannot do myself.

@asker: No canned response but a sincere one. Are you trying to get me to be angry with you? What's this about?

yes. I have personal experience. It will consume u, and ultimately lead to death. Urs, the one ur angry at, or both. Cain and Abel, jealousy turned to anger, anger turned to death.
