A Challenge: I Do Not Understand Beats. Do You?

I Do Not Understand Beats

Beets, beets, beets.

They are pretty but not so sweet.

I’ve tasted some

Where I’ve succumbed

To delight and the bite

But why do the store-bought ones

Lack originality …

Please finish this awkward poem for me. Yes, I’m lazy, and I’m asking you to do my work. So I will issue it as a challenge.

Believe me, this is not a poem that will ever be submitted to a professional outlet.

Update:

WHY WHY WHY are you people so clever? I cannot endeavor to choose anyone better... and yes you can finish this, too. More true. I am just an abettor.

    actually beets

    come in different shapes

    I have discovers some

whose shape is lean and long

    cylindrical, and slender

    and -yes

    so very tender?

not sweet? you say... I say

    mine are, packed with

    carbohydrate sugar... and tasty

    in my borscht

    but You are not

speaking it seems of the beets

    you mean the beats

so I suggest you hear the

    words

as they spill at your feet

    forget the terms

    trochaic and inverted

    pentameter

or you'll become pent up and stiff

    much like Dick and Peter...

    oh my

I think I made a Freudian slip it seems

    but you know what

    I mean

Marvelous!, a triumph!! A shallow grave has been prepared in Westminster abbey's poets corner. If I did have one teeny weeny critism it would merely be that you might want to change most of the words and put what's left in a different order.

    Beets, beets, beets.

They are pretty but not so sweet.

    I’ve tasted some

    Where I’ve succumbed

    To delight and the bite

But why do the store-bought ones

    Lack originality

    Deutchland Deutchland Uber alles

    Woof bark donkey

    eek eek eek

hope this helps ( but I'd be stupefied if it did)

    It's all in the beats:

    Beets, beets,

    They're pretty, not sweet

    I've tasted some

    Where I've succumbed to

    Delight, bite,

    Though store bought aren't right

Not as tasty, not as bright...

    Beats, beats

    The silence is a tweet

    I've written some

Be it clever or dumb I

    Fight, write

    Or stay up all night

    Not quite winning your delight.

The beets we eat we grow ourselves

no shop bought ones on kitchen shelves

for finer fare you will not taste

no need to scorn and then to waste

home grown is nothing short of sweet

and is the best that you can eat

    insipid never comes to mind

I dig to see what I can find

    a 14 yr olds answer

    granny ate some beets

    and the beets were loaded

    jumped in the bed

    and the bed exploded

    she reached for the pillow

    she reached for the sheet

    did a 50 yard dash

    to the toilet seat,

    what color was them beets?

there is stuff all over my floor

    I ain't cleaning it..

    you better hire somebody..

I won't attempt to finish the poem because it is utterly perfect just as it is - perhaps the most moving statement of the human condition that I have ever read.

But here is a beauty tip. Bathe in beetroot juice. It is good for the skin.

    Source(s): Because you're worth it.

but why do the store bought ones

    seem to be so plain

and the ones from my garden

vibrate like they have been sprinkled with rain

I know they all come from the earth

they are all from the ground

they are all the same color

    they shape is pretty round

    I still see something more

in the ones I grow on my own

it's like they have more meat on the bone

They can be the same size

    but they feel more alive

so if you can grow a garden

I suggest you take that dive

    Beets, beets, beets,

I stomp them with my feets,

    I've tasted some,

    Beet borscht is dumb

    They stain my white

    Shirt when I bite,

    Beat them beets..

I love beetroot, that luscious seductive colour

is enough to get the juices stirring and flowing,

    into unthinkable temptations...

Serve chopped, with parsley, garlic, a dash of

Balsamic and a drizzle of fine olive-oil.....Enjoy!

Romney has the equal opinions as Obama, so if Romney is the nominee it isn't important who wins. Santorum is a conservative and that's why he's quantity one in the brand new polls.
