Too all the bow hunters. Do you wear rubber boots for scent control when deer hunting?

Just curious. I usually don't, I just use the scent spray on my boots before entering the woods.

Update:

Chris. Sorry I meant the scent killer spray not using a new scent. I usually use dead down wind or scent killer.

Yes, I use rubber knee boots for scent control. While you can get away without using them on some occasions, for bow hunting I have found from a lifetime of experience, the rubber boots do help with scent control.

The best example in the world would be a bow stand I was hunting a few years ago.The best route to get to it without disturbing any deer, was to walk down an old logging road. There was a deer crossing on the road that I was hunting. I would actually walk past the deer crossing, and then cut into the woods and go to my stand.

I did this to avoid the dense thicket that I would have to walk through if I did it any other way. I could see the crossing on the road from my stand. And watched the deer when they crossed, exactly where I had walked through. The deer paid no attention to any scent that I may have left.

One day I forgot to change from my sneakers to my rubber boots that I carried in the truck inside of a plastic bag to protect the boots from scent contamination. As I had gone several hundred yards, I noticed I had my sneakers on, and decided to continue any way. That morning I was in my stand and a 6 point was coming straight to the road crossing. As soon as he crossed the road and walked a few yards more, he would be in bow range.

As he got to the road, when he hit my scent trail, he turned inside out and went back the way he had come from. That told me the importance of rubber boots and scent control.

But I will have to say. The scent control you spray on your hunting boots works also. But on long all day hunts, with a lot of walking and scouting involved in the mid-day period, without repeated applications of the scent control, any boot that allows your feet to "breathe" will eventually put out human scent.

Bowhunting.....there is nothing that can compare with it, is it?

No, natural scents occur all over the hunting area introducing a new scent alerts a deer whether it be apple or you anything new draws the attention. When I go into my hunting area sage is an ever present plant I'll take a branch of it and rub it all over the shoes and pants and that has been working well for 40+ years of hunting and 40+ deer in the freezer

I where rubber boots but it's just for protection against the snakes. The scent blocking helps though. I do spray them down before I go out.

Yes but my main reason is due to swampy areas I have to travel through to get to stands.I will say they are comfortable to wear and walk in.
