Neck Injury while lifting?

I was doing a pull-down type of exercise, and on the last rep I held it for a few extra seconds to feel maximum resistance... While I was doing this, I felt a sharp pain in the back of my neck.

Since then (last night), I've found that I have to angle my head downward in order to not feel pain, and when I try and straighten it up I feel a pain from JUST LEFT of my spine in the back of my neck up to the base of my skull and down to my left shoulder blade. My first thought was pinched nerve, but I haven't had anything like this before.

Does this sound like a muscle issue? Spine issue? Not looking for diagnosis over Yahoo Answers obviously, just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience.

I may leave work to go to Urgent Care for an X-Ray, but I'll probably end up waiting it out for a couple days if I can.

Another note is that I haven't felt any tingling in my arms/legs, so I'm really hoping it isn't related to the spine.

Thanks for any help, guys.

Go to a doctor. Neck and back injuries aren't something to be guessing. I was in a dune buggy crash with my dad last summer and he got hurt. His head went up and hit the row bar and busted his head open. His neck hurt a little to, but he thought it was just whiplash. Well we all convinced him to to to the ER and it turns out he had a broken neck!

That's a muscle injury. Take an Advil in the morning and another at night for a few days. No exercise until the pain subsides.
