Long Jump and 200m Help?

Next week I have two athletic meets; one against another club(Tuesday) and possibly one against all the schools in my borough(wednesday). The reason I say possibly is because our place on the team on wednesday depends on our performance on tuesday, so basically I have to come first in both my events on tuesday in order to attend the meet on wednesday, On tuesday I am doing long jump and 200m and I dont think i am that good. Our track is 200m but is on grass so our times are slower than they would be. my time for 200m is 31.42s which I know isnt amazing but I need some tips on how to improve at least a little bit. I am going to a track on Saturday to practise so can anyone recommend some drills to do?By the way- I have never trained before for these events and saturday is my first training session. Also, I am doing long jump. My best jump is 4.10m without training and on saturday I am planning on training so what sort of things should i do and also should i aim for height or distance? Any tips are welcome :)

To increase distance for your long jump consider doing some plyometric exercises such as box jumps and one leg hops. Work on your speed coming down the runway. The faster you run the farther you will jump. Also work on your landing by doing standing broad jumps into the sand and try to extend your legs out as far as they can go. Working on posture and good running form will help as well. Remember to run with your knees up and keep your eyes and head up while running down the long jump runway.

For the 200 I would work on your start and also train a little bit before the race. For training do a couple of 300s and a couple of 150s at a fast pace. Don't do this within a day or two of the race because you will probably still be sore and you don't want that. Best of luck.
