Get volunteer experience on your resume to show you are ready to come back and have worked in a modern office.
Our hospitals and major clinics require several years of experience for receptionists, so make sure you are clear on what this employer wants or you could end up wasting your time.
If you can, take some refresher courses at a local community college. If you aren't great on computers, take a computer class. If they offer a medical terminology class, take it. You might even want to take a non-credit English/Speech class to brush up on communication skills.
