Am I the only one who feels that really boring, superficial questions?

are asked on Senior Citizens on YA? Maybe they think we can't take any kind of depth. Maybe they think none of us actually think. What do the rest of you think?

It is not what it use to be....I agree. It is hard to help others when a question is asked and the asker answers it too.You must remember that some questions may not really be asked by a SC but youngsters trying to flame-bait.

Geri42 - boring, superficial seems to be the state of the world and some people deal with it better than others. Look at most of your other media - Tabloid, glamour news, uninspired TV dramas, movies that are remakes of old movies & old TV shows,. Mostly uninspired by the current generation of bored people who coodle their children into superificial means of electronic entertainment.

Senior Citizens is not Facebook and is not in need of shock value for entertainment. Depth is not what is allowed nor expected according to the guidelines. The thinking does occur here. It is sometimes not what we say directly which probably is more than I should comment on.

Some days it does seem that many questions are on the very "light" level but not everyone wishes to be serious all the time.

The "They" are usually fellow seniors asking the questions, not like yahoo is forcing the questions down our throats or making you answer.

Some seniors have many physical problems and may be lonely, they have enough serious issues in their lives so they come on this site for a few laughs and to shoot the breeze for awhile.

If I don't have anything to write about a question or I am not in the mood for them, I just don't answer or I do something else.

Live is serious enough without stirring things up all the time.

I do enjoy more serious questions but as I don't usually ask serious questions how can I expect others to entertain me?

It isn't easy to always come up with interesting questions.

I don't see you ask many questions here or maybe I just passed some of yours up.

Some of them don't have a clue about the depth of knowledge most seniors have. Have you noticed everyday many of the questions are from students in high school? They must think senior citizen is the same as a senior in high school. We should have an automatic answer telling them to redirect their question

If you are suggesting that a lot of the Questions are light hearted,

then yes, you are right, but that is not necessarily a bad thing.

Not everyone wishes to discuss the Nicomachean Ethics of

Aristotle. Many questions have been asked over and over, but

if people are happy coming into this SC category then so be it.

I never find life boring, so if you/ we want better questions, we

have to create them. Most of what we need is out there on the

internet anyway, so that is usually the first place to look.

People tend to come here for entertainment or to share life

experiences. I find this section far better than say R&S which

is predominantly an attack zone. I do not submit many questions

as I never know what to ask that has not been asked before.

    I am relatively happy here.

An excellent observation. But, you know, Yahoo does not encourage any kind of depth on this website. In fact, as CO the Old Dog accurately observes, Yahoo does not really even permit any kind of major truth. And they will remove it whenever they manage to be smart enough to detect it.

Besides, as you can see from most all of the responses you've gotten so far, most of the Yahoo Seniors are very contented with the boring and the superficial. It makes them happy as clams in mud.

You are welcome to ask a question that is interesting and not superficial. Like all things, what one may find boring is interesting to someone else. If you want to ask a more stimulating question by all means do. We each make a choice to answer a question posted and I enjoy the majority of Q & A on YA SC. If you want this category to have more depth then ask a question that will prompt those kinds of answers.

You mean JUST on the SC site? Have you actually been in the other categories to read the rubbish posted there? Granted, we don't always ask life-changing questions, as we're beyond the "what if?" stage in life.

We know what life is about for the most part, we're not afraid to wrinkle, admit we're not perfect, and death itself isn't anything we care to discuss at length because nobody actually knows what it's all about anyway. We'll deal with that when it gets here.

In the meantime, why not have a little fun and leave the political crap and religious beliefs and psychology to those categories-we'll let those "geniuses" solve all that. When Trolls visit, they are fair game.

I've only recently started showing up here with a bit of regularity. Sometimes I just read the answers because they are the most interesting on Y/A. If I hadn't followed 2 incredible Contacts here, I wouldn't even know that it existed. The questions asked are overall the best on Y/A, because they elicit real life experience, not just data that I can google myself, or some tired party-line idea that is recited by people who are age-impaired ; )

Who exactly is "they"? Your question is a bit confusing.

Also, I haven't learned the proper etiquette for this section, but I checked your history and your last two questions were one year ago - Ideas on how to celebrate your birthday & How is the weather in Savannah. So.........Is that what you mean by interesting and deep? Just sayin'

There are some for sure but I see more "real" questions in Senior Citizens than most other categories.

I have noticed in the 6 months or so since I found this section that the questions are posed by trolls more and more. In fact, most of Answers are just a bunch of kids who have no one else to talk to and they are bored and post dumb questions. It is rare you actually find a question that make you think.
