Continue the meds your doctor prescribed, of course, and use Advil or Tylenol for pain as much as every 4 hours as needed. You may not want to get the ear wet until the infection is resolved; the eardrum is under pressure and the water on it could irritate it even more. You could also get an over the counter decongestant medicine to help with the pressure. A heating pad for a few minutes at the time may help, just be careful that you don't put it on a fabric surface or go to sleep while using it, for obvious reasons.
Ear infections make you miserable and seem to last forever. Just hang in there with the treatments. I hope you feel better soon, God bless

Go back to your G.P., if you have been on antibiotics for a " few days" you should be noticing an improvement by now, perhaps you need a different antibiotic.

place pillow on couch, put heating blanket on pillow, put bad ear on heating blanket. watch tv for 10 days until the ear infection is gone.
