Is the long-haired gene on cats on their X-chromosome?

I've seen several litters of kittens, who had a Forest Cat mother, and a regular short-haired father. In all these litters, the female kittens turned out to be short-haired, and the males were mainly long-haired (I've only seen the males as kittens, as I only have female cats. Though the male kittens were definitely more fluffy)

So, I assume it must be on the x-chromosome? So that the male cats would always get the long haired X from their mother, but the females would need it from both (so also assuming it is recessive)? So a female kitten with a short haired father, could never be long-haired?
