What age do you have to be to choose what parent to live with?

Im 13 and I live Utah. I really hate living with my mom. Its boring here, we don't eat dinner till 11:00 o clock at night, and my stepdad is a douche. Where as in my dad makes dinner at 6 o clock, never bored there, and I actually like his girlfriend. The school is only a 5 minute walk away where as in at my moms, if I miss the bus I have to walk 2 miles. Currently I am living with my mom and I hate her and living with her. ever since my stepdad moved in we always got into fights where I would leave the house and walk away. I want to know what the legal age is to be able to move in with your non-custodial parent in Utah. Can anyone tell me?

School counselor probably could get you in touch with legal services to get a good answer on this, but since you are in Utah I bet the "church" as done some wrangling and got the age limit higher there than in other states. In Washington state you might be able to at least be heard in juvenile court but in Utah you could the chattel of your stepfather as he is your mother's husband and lord and master over his family.

I though that if you are old enough to understand then you can choose. Usually when parents separate if the child is old enough they get to decide, your reasons for moving seem valid enough so ask your dad and he'll be able to find out how to get you to live with him.

My parents divorced when i was 13 i live in cali and i got to choose who to live with.

You need to be 18 years old, just like driving, you are not allowed to drive until 18.
