Downloaded Media Player Classic and got a virus... Help!?

Yesterday, I dowonloaded "Media Player Classic" thinking there were no problems with this software, no viruses, etc.

Once I dowloaded it, in about an hour or so, a task bar popped up under my url box, and everything began to run soooo slow!! My sister plays on Bearville, a kid's online world sponsered by Build A Bear, and it won't even load! We have "McAfee", the virus checking software, and I did that, and nothing seems to be wrong! Everything is fine! But, I just don't understand why everything is just so slow...Should I go in and have my computer looked at? Does anyone have any suggestions? Please help! thanks

Go to your control panel, and there you can click add/delete programs and delete everything you don't need. The installation installed a few dumb things that slow down your PC. I only download from cnet.com or download.com (which are the same website).

Ignore those talking about how windows is junk. Apple products suck and they always will.

Download and run a scan with Malwarebytes, and check Add/Remove Programs to see if anything you didn't install was added. If that doesn't take care of it, you're going to have to take it to a local shop, since it's beyond the average user's ability at that point.

Make sure you download from legitimate sites. MPC is a legit program, but if you download from "free-cool-software.com" you're just asking for trouble.

Edit: Ignore the freetard and multiple mactards below.

btw why are you using Windows i mean tell me WHY you have to run windows instead of anything else btw you have more than ONE other option if you didn't know

NOPE that was NOT from media player classic if i downloaded the program you donwloaded

http://sourceforge.net/projects/mpc-hc/files/MPC%2... that search bar is from something else

It's probably windows because most people that use windows don't have a clue what they are talking about. Don't download junk from random places. McAfee is horrible and doesn't need to be in quotes. And you probably have compaq or HP so you should definitely take it to someone. That or throw it away and get a Mac.

I would think about doing a system restore to an earlier point in time. Google how to do this.
