What does the latest findings of the discovered higgs boson particle mean?
Apparently scientists now have enough proof to conclude that they have witnessed the higgs boson particle in particle collisions, what does this mean for mankind and the future of technology and physics. Have they discovered the purpose of mankind and the reason why anything exists at all?

A couple of months ago they discovered a particle that travels faster than the speed of light.
A couple of weeks after that they retracted that. Turns out they had the equipment mis-calibrated. Oopsie.
I'm not impressed with today's announcement. It seems like they were saying "we didn't actually observe it but somehow we proved it was there." Wait a couple of weeks. See if there isn't an "oopsie" on it's way.

"The purpose of mankind and the reason why anything exists at all" has nothing to do with the higgs boson. I don't know why you think it does. The higgs boson is a theory that would help explain observations relating to the masses of certain fundamental particles, and would make the Standard Model of particle physics more consistent for several other technical reasons. That's all.

The Higgs-Boson particle HAS NOT BEEN DISCOVERED. This is what has happened:
http://cosmiclog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/07/02/12...
The results are based on the full batch of data gathered at Fermilab's Tevatron experiment over the course of more than a decade, and Fermilab said the findings represented the "strongest indication to date for the long-sought Higgs particle" from the separate teams behind the Tevatron's CDF and DZero detectors.
"The Tevatron experiments accomplished the goals that we had set with this data sample," CDF co-spokesperson Rob Roser said in a news release about the revelation. "Our data strongly point toward the existence of the Higgs boson, but it will take results from the experiments at the Large Hadron Collider in Europe to establish a discovery."

If you knew what the Higgs was claimed to be, then you would not have a reason to believe that this would unveil the "purpose of mankind and the reason why anything exists at all."
The Higgs boson has NOT BEEN FOUND!!!!! You need to give time for confirmation. NOBODY in the scientific community has claimed it HAS been found.

nicely, you're able to see that coming, because of the fact the Bible says very early on that God created each and every thing. that is composed of issues yet to be found. additionally, you nevertheless fall for a logical fallacy. no count how many cases you assert it, you nevertheless won't be able to coach a unfavorable. Higgs/Boson is not any threat to me or my God.

It would've been far more interesting had they not been able to find one. Finding a Higgs Boson adds credence to the current standard model.

It means that aspects of the theory of fundamental particles are confirmed -- but there is no practical application for this knowledge (yet).
This does not explain the "why" of anything at all, and the discovery needs to be confirmed -- maybe next week or two when CERN announces some of their work's discoveries.
Science isn't very good at "why" questions -- but pretty good at "what happens when" ones.

They have not discovered it yet and as for the LHC I wouldn't trust anything from that place, we spent billions on it and have yet to get anything but brake downs and faster than light neutrinos and last I heard they are trying to spin and say finding nothing is good.....good.....if you gave me 20 billion and I gave you empty promises back would you still be my friend....?
