Why are atheists so resentful of theists?
I don't intend to make a blanket generalization, but I've come across many questions from atheists making rude fools of themselves criticizing all the "retarded" Christians out there for having a belief.
On the other end of the spectrum, the most radical Evangelicals out there just tend to seem batshit crazy rather than angry or resentful.
So my question actually is, do people of the Christian faith really ignite such a level of anger in the atheist crowd, or does their pointless ranting come rather from an insecurity in their own beliefs (or lack thereof)?

I don't resent theists, though I think some of them have been brainwashed and need to wake up. Everyone has a right to their own beliefs. My problem is with those who use their religious beliefs to justify treating others like crap because they don't believe the same. And I have little time for those who want to make their beliefs law, or who tell me that I'm going to suffer for eternity because I don't believe as they do.

i ask your self the same aspect. I presume its because their beliefs are puzzled so regularly of their own judgment of correct and incorrect, they pass round attempting to justify being atheist outwardly. Its a protection mechanism. they are not fairly certain being atheist is what they prefer to be. So clearly, they ought to bash theists... as an get jointly, if i replaced into confident i replaced into wise... i'd enable my artwork teach that i'm wise. i does not pass round declaring i'm except, I wasn't certain i replaced into and that i replaced into searching for confirmation from some different person. SO if i think that believing there is not God replaced into the right aspect, i does not might want to justify my determination through bashing those which have not made that determination. i'd enable my success in personality and existence teach it. yet nonetheless not all and multiple has that both! :)

Wait- for centuries believers arrested us, took away our civil rights, and executed us. Now they tell us we have no right to hold public office, they spread lies about us, threaten us, and push their religion on us every chance they get, and you wonder why atheists sometimes resent theists? Really?
There's no "insecurity" involved. That's just another one of the baseless lies believers spread. Do you really think we should just lie back and take all the abuse believers dish out because they're so superior and we deserve every bit of that abuse?

So much harm results from religious people believing their god is the only right way - women and gays are oppressed, science is held back, education is resisted, children are psychologically abused by being told to worship a genocidal dictator of a god who advocates slavery and child rape and will torture them for eternity if they do not worship it, reproductive freedom is threatened and violent extremism takes place daily.
Also from my perspective in psychiatric nursing, I see teenagers and young adults who after having received a decent education, realise that religion and afterlife are nonsense and then suffer deep grief and loss and need to reestablish their life's priorities and sense of purpose. If they had never been led to believe they were immortal in the first place and a whole load of rubbish about talking snakes and people being made from ribs and virgin's giving birth and people coming back from the dead, they could form their worldview realistically and be intelligent, educated and psychologically strong adults.

I tend not to get annoyed or angry at theists unless they get rude first. It can be frustrating when they flat-out declare something and then have nothing to back it up. I can justify why I don't believe in a god or gods, but when you ask them about their beliefs, they always eventually fall back to faith. Faith is a non-answer. They don't understand this. I don't blame them though. I didn't understand it either when I was a theist.

Because they keep trying to impose their fool superstitions on society. In particular, they lie about the findings of science when they are in conflict with the ancient myths they mindlessly believe.

And that is not from being insecure or making pointless rants. When they inhibit scientific progress they are detrimental to society.

My main gripe is that they hinder progression. They're usually anti-science, anti-gay marriage, and tend to be pro-life under all circumstances.

I hate anyone who thinks I should burn for all of time for not believing in something they believe. Anyone who thinks I deserve or worships something that will allow that can go **** themselves as far I'm concerned. Your argument is they hate me for not believing what they do (bigotry). I hate them for wanting me to suffer FOR ALL OF TIME. Do you understand??? If you think that somehow I'm their equal because of this than you can also go **** yourself.
