Yes, if that is the cause of your liver problem.

But, this has to be done early on...if a liver problem

develops. When the liver cells become damaged,

the immune system of the body responds to this

and causes inflammation inside the liver.

This will cause the liver to enlarge in size.

If the alcohol is stopped and the inflammation is

treated...then there is a chance that the liver

will replace the damaged cells with new cells

    and recover.

Please keep in mind, that if you take alcohol and

medications together; it can cause very serious

damage to the liver cells and may not be able

    to be reversed.

When the liver cells start to die off...this is fibrosis.

When liver cells die and scar tissue forms in the liver...

this is Cirrhosis and the scar tissue will block the

    flow of blood...therefore, it is a progressive...irreversible

    disease.

Stopping the alcohol when cirrhosis is diagnosed will

slow the progression down...but, as yet, there is no

cure and it leads to liver transplantation evaluation process

    for placement on the list.

    Best wishes
