In SWTOR if you are targeted in pvp, is there a way to remove it?

On my healer toons, I always get targeted, that's just how it goes. Today when I was in PVP, I made a comment about having a target on me and someone told me that they could see it also and that I could remove it. I tried to explain the best that I could in a WZ that I couldn't actually see the target, I just knew that I had one because I was being blasted by several people at once as soon as I would return from dying. Anyway, they insisted that I could remove the marker. I'm pretty sure they are full of it but I wanted to ask anyway.

It's a problem with the game. The mark can only be removed by logging out and back in. It really takes some of the fun out of healing in PvP.

If you are talking about what I think you do then no - it is just a marker set by the enemy team to designate a target and coordinate attacks, just like you would during a raid. There is no way to drop it, unless you have some sort of stealth available.

HOWEVER they might mean one of the stacking debuffs from... Bounty Hunter or Soldier that mark you for certain attacks (I think it is called heat tracer for the BH and allows for a powerful 'finisher'). In that case you should be able to clear it with any skill that removes debuffs from you - or wait for it to expire, I think the debuff it self does no damage...
