Change graphic card in desktop?

Yo,

I may have finally found a computer that is not too expensive and can handle modern games in high settings. But none of those 2 I have found have any 'full' specs listed, so I don't know if I can upgrade the graphic card if I want to in the computer?

So, the question is; Which one, or if both, can change graphic card, and which one, if both, can change 'to the best one'?

Computers;

1) Acer Aspire X1930 DT.SJGEQ.012

Specs (that I've found)

• Intel® Core™ i5-2320 - QuadCore

• 4GB DDR3-1333, 4GB DDR3-1333

• 500GB-7.2K-SATA

• Nvidia GT520 1GB DVI / HDMI

• DVD Super-Multi 16X

• PS/2 Mouse&Keyboard

• USB3.0

• Windows 7 Home Premium - 64

2) DELL Inspiron 620MT

Specs (that I've found)

Base Inspiron 620

Processor CE i5 -2320

Memory 6 GB 1333

OS (NDC MUI) Win 7 H Premium 64bit

Graphic_Card Single nVidia GT 530 1x1GB

Harddrive 1 TB

Optical DVD+RW

Colour Black Bezel

Keyboard MM Kbd (Kiki) Entry

Mouse Mse Indigo USB Optical

Sound card Onboard

Wireless WLAN

NIC Int Gigabit NIC

Base_Warranty 2y CAR_nordics

Keyboard language NDC MUI

Also, is the ram speed 1333MHz slow if you compare it to 1600MHz? Can any of these to handle 1600MHz?

Thanks in advance!

These are both desktop computers, so you can ignore the first poster's comments re:laptops.

Neither of those computers will handle games on high settings as-is, because the graphics cards are too weak. However the Core i5 2320 processor is fine.

The GeForce GT 520 is a low-end $45 card and the Dell only has integrated graphics. While the GT 520 is better, it's only good enough for low settings in most games, medium in really easy titles.

Between them, the Dell is a better choice because you'll need to upgrade the graphics card no matter what. The Inspiron620 MiniTower has a factory 300 watt power supply, which (contrary to popular misconception) CAN support entry-level graphics cards. For example, you can safely run a GeForce GT 430 or GT 440. Even the $55 GeForce GT 430 is much faster than a GT 520, and the Radeon HD 6570 is even faster for the same price.

However, the absolute best graphics card you could install without having to upgrade the PSU is a Radeon HD 7750.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...

The 7750 outperforms the GeForce GTS 450/Radeon HD 6750 but it's a new design that's extremely energy- efficient. The HD 7750 draws less than 50 watts maximum, it works fine in systems with factory 300 watt power supplies.

Now if you wanted to install a serious midrange gaming card above that level, you'd need to replace the power supply first.

For example you'd need a new PSU (at least 500 watts) to support a Radeon HD 6850/6870 or GeForce GTX 460/560. You'd even need a new PSU to run a Radeon HD 6770 or GeForce GTX 550 Ti, which are just barely better than the Radeon HD 7750 (actually slower in some games).

So to play high-end games like BF3 on high settings and Skyrim maxed, you'd be looking at spending at least another $200 (roughly $60-$75 on a power supply in addition to another $130-$180 on a graphics card). To run BF3 on max settings at 1920x1080 resolution you'd need at least a $250 graphics card like a Radeon HD 7850.

I see both of those are desktops computers, so I don't know what the other answer (Chris) is talking about. The problems is this..... Both of those computers you listed have extremely weak PSUs. The Dell has a 300 watt, and the Acer has a pitiful 220 watt PSU. Neither of these will support any kind of graphics card upgrade. You would need to upgrade the PSU first, then the graphics card. So unless you are prepared to do that, I would not get either of those rigs.

The graphics card that they come with are terrible.

If I were you I would for sure upgrade the graphics card. I hate to say it but neither of those computers have a powerful enough graphics card to play modern games at high settings, as a matter of fact they wouldn't play modern games at all. The 520 is a very cheapy $50 graphics card that some of the reviews say it plays minecraft "adequately". So it really can't play much at all.

But if you are going to upgrade the graphics card that could lead to more upgrades needed. If you upgrade the graphics card your GPU will require more power which means you probably will need to upgrade the PSU to a higher wattage also. Good luck

Im sorry to saw that you can't upgrade the video card on a laptop. But for the same price or a little more you can go to iBUYPOWER.com or CYBERPOWERPC.com for desktops that are easily upgradeable. These company's build a computer with the parts you want. It's like building your own.
