Does my OBGYN need to know that I'm a lesbian?
I came out of the closet last October after battling with myself for years. I engaged in hetero-sex and ran into some issues with my uterus. After coming out, I hadn't participated in having sex with another girl for quite some time. There was no need to tell my doctor on my last visit. However, now that I have had sex with a woman, should I tell her? I know she is going to ask if I have been sexually active and I don't want to lie but I've heard multiple stories about doctors treating their homosexual patients with less care and I'm afraid. Is there any medical reason that she needs to know?

I would say you were seeing someone but are not having intercourse yet. The main reason a gynie would ask that is for issues of birth-control and STDs.
What I'd do is call the doctor's office -- or have a friend call -- and state that you are a lesbian and would like to know if the doc has any issues regarding treating lesbians. Some do, some don't.
Or i'd look around and see if there's an LGBT directory in your area and look for a doc, or ask friends for a recommendation. After all, some doctors are lesbians themselves...
And congratulations on coming out!

Just say yes, but no intercourse (unless you've been using strap-ons!). That's about the only thing a man and woman can do that two women can't.

No, I don't think that is necessary unless the form of sexual activity you and your partner do somehow affects your uterus.

You are "sexually active"
It doesn't matter what your orientation is, you don't need to tell her.
