If WWE truly holds Wrestlemania 30 in Cowboys Stadium, can Cena vs Taker break the attendance record?

Well, I think by now it's quite clear Taker is rumored to finally retire at Wrestlemania 30 two years from now, and WWE has reportedly consider doing the 30th anniversary of Wrestlemania in Cowboys Stadium which is in Taker's home state with 110,000 attendance capacity.

Now, obviously there are many intriguing scenarios for Taker to retire, but I think everyone & their mother know WWE will definitely go with Taker vs Cena. I don't believe Taker/Cena will happen at WM 29, BTW. I think Taker will either face Rock or Brock at WM 29, or maybe even longshots like Austin, Goldberg, or even Sting, but definitely not Cena.

Back to the bizz, suppose Taker/Cena happens at WM 30 in Cowboys Stadium, do you think there's a good chance it might finally topple the attendance record? Wrestlemania 3's 93,173 record has been broken in February 14, 2010 featuring 2010 NBA All-Star Game with 108,713 and Vince wants the record back for WWE.

If there is any WWE match in this world that can garner more than 93,173 or even 108,713, is Cena vs Taker THAT match?

Update:

I'm doing fine, Great One. _

Update 2:

@Clark:

I'll try, dude. But YA's condition mimicks WWE's current condition.

    What's up Joker CPOC?

Yes, that would definitely break the record attendance. They've held boxing

pay per views at Dallas Cowboys Stadium most notably Manny Pacquiao's

boxing matches. I doubt that's what the WWE booking team has in mind in

the main event for Wrestlemania 29 in 2013. This subject has been brought

up before many times when will John Cena wrestle the Undertaker at WM in

the streak match? We don't know yet. What we do know is who the rumored

opponent is "The War Machine" Brock Lesnar. B Lesnar signed an exclusive

contract with the WWE he's got three matches under that contract match 1,

vs. John Cena at Extreme Rules (loss), match 2 vs. Triple H at SummerSlam

2012 (I think he will win otherwise they will make him look weak going into the

Wrestlemania 29 event.) Match 3 vs. Undertaker at Wrestlemania 29 in 2013.

We all know that he Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker had a very competitive

rivalry way back when during the "Ruthless Aggression Era" it's no secret that

Brock Lesnar had a lot of heat and personality animosity with The Undertaker

and there was some real life hatred. They never really got a chance to finish it

and see who really is the better man. I think this match has to be made some

time next year at least from a promoting standpoint to hype up Wrestlemania

29, there's no doubt about it, this match has to be made. Not Sting, not Mick

Foley (Cactus Jack), not John Cena, not Sheamus, not a trilogy with KANE it

will be an epic much anticipated match up w/ The War Machine Brock Lesnar.

Now onto business for John Cena since The Rock will be part of Wrestlemania

29 next year and the G.I. Joe Retaliation movie is going to be released around

that time as well. I think The Rock will have a rematch with John Cena this time

it will be for the WWE Championship, I respect that your an Undertaker fan, I'm

The Rock's fan and he did say that his main goal is to have one more good run

being the WWE Champion. I really believe next year we'll see both of those two

matches next year and John Cena will get his rematch this time he will be Wwe

Champion going into the match and he will be dethroned by The Rock at WM29.

Yeah .. Just Look At How Many People Attended Wrestlemania 28 Just To See The Rock Vs John Cena .. And With That Being Said .. The Undertaker Vs John Cena Would Be A Bigger Match Than The One At Wrestlemania 28 ..

Thousands Of Fans Would Be Dying For Tickets To See The Legendary Undertaker Take On The Current Face Of The Company John Cena .. And Like You Said .. This Will Probably Be The Undertaker's Last Match Which Makes It Even More Special ..

22-0 Or 21-1 .. Fans Would Be Split Either Side .. Waiting To See The Outcome .. Seeing If WWE Do Give The Push Which Lets Admit John Cena Needs To Even Be In The Category As The Likes Of The Undertaker .. The Rock .. Stone Cold .. And The Rest Of The WWE Legends ..

I Think This Match Would Easily Break The Attendance Record Because It Is A Match Of A Lifetime .. Just Like The Rock Vs John Cena Was .. But This Time There Is Something Much More On The Line .. The Streak Vs Cena's Legacy ..

If The Undertaker Wins .. That Would Mean John Cena Lost To Two Of Wrestling Greats (The Undertaker And The Rock) And Once Again .. He 'Loses' Everything ..

But If He Wins .. This Could Be The Spark To Light Up His Career .. Being The One Who Finally Defeated The Legendary Undertaker At Wrestlemania .. And Maybe Fans Will Look At Cena In A Whole Different Light .. Or Fans Would Just Riot I Dunno ..

But Yeah .. I Would Definitely Pay To See It ..

  • I think so, but even with that match, I don't think it would be the single draw. The Undertaker and John Cena are the WWE's two most consistent PPV draws, but the WWE has shown that they push hard, very hard, to draw massive Wrestlemania buy rates, and that they don't rely solely on one match (like they used to) to reach those targets. The Rock has been the major selling point for Wrestlemania the last two years and I have a pretty good feeling that he will be again the next time around (with a healthy dose of Brock Lesnar as well).

Vince has proven over and over again now that the success or failure of Wrestlemania is how he defines his own personal value of the WWE (which can probably be traced back to Wrestlemania 25, which bombed both in terms of quality and at the box office). And I will say, in recent years, he's dialed the hype factor up to 11. You can absolutely make arguments that some of his experiments have failed, but heading into Wrestlemania since WM 26, there has been massively hyped angles that we just HAD to see (even the most jaded fans). The rematch between Shawn and The Undertaker; The Rock and Steve Austin back in the game at WM 27, the "biggest match of all time" between Cena and The Rock at WM 28 tag teamed with the biggest Hell in a Cell ever. It's gotten bigger every year, and you have to give Vince props for that. Sure, some of it hasn't panned out the way he probably envisioned (well, really just WM 27). And The Undertaker and his amazing streak have been in the center of it all every year.

I'm not sure about Wrestlemania 30 (even though poetically at least, that seems like the ideal place for The Undertaker to retire), but WM 29 will be bigger than ever. The Undertaker, John Cena, The Rock and Brock Lesnar are the four guys the WWE is clearly going to be building that even around, and that's pretty huge. No matter how the eventual match line ups shake down between those four (and whatever Punk and Orton are doing), the even is going to sell, at the box office and at the gate. I think after what we saw The Undertaker and Triple H produce at WM 28, one of the best pure performances I've ever seen, that's just a guarantee.

But for me, as you well know, that match (Cena/Undertaker) alone hooks me. Hell, being totally honest here, I would pay $100 for Wrestlemania if that was the ONLY match on the card. That's how bad I want to see it. To me, that's the ultimate main event, even bigger than anything The Rock can be involved with (although Undertaker facing either Rock or Lesnar would be pretty damn cool as well).

Source(s): Glad to see you back asking questions man, try to stick around more, I like having you here!

No because everyone knows that Undertaker is getting really old and doesn't perform like he used to and everyone knows that John Cena is not a great wrestler. The older you get, the less people wanna see you compete. Plus Taker's WM matches are predictable since we know he will win no matter what.

If The Rock vs John Cena at WM 28 couldn't do it than Taker vs Cena won't do it either. The only way that Taker vs Cena will break attendance record is if the match is an I Quit match because that will make the match unpredictable. Who will say those 2 words? Undertaker? No never. Cena? He never quits. But...someone must say I quit so how can they force each other to quit?

If the match is not an I Quit match than it won't break attendance record.

Undertaker will never face The Rock at WM trust me. It never happened when The Rock was a full time wrestler so it won't happen now that he's a huge movie star.

I really wouldn't like to see The Undertaker vs John Cena. It can happen though, Cena being the face of the WWE and all. Since Brock Lesnar is most likely going to face The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 29 i really doubt that would be Takers last Wrestlemania knowing that Wrestlemania 30 will be in Takers home state. After his match that might be against Lesnar at WM29, who can face Taker at WM30? Current WWE roster i can only see CM Punk, John Cena or Chris Jericho facing him. I hope Jericho gets to face him. If the WWE can get Goldberg back than Goldberg should be.

110,000 seats in one arena? That truly would be the "grandest stage of them all" (for Wrestlemania)!

Taker vs Cena is the most-wanted match among wrestling fans around the world. Taker vs Sting is a close second, but most fans see Taker vs Sting more as a dream match that will never happen, than anything else.

Taker has beaten everybody there is to beat in the WWE, except for Cena. Cena, too, has beaten everybody, except for The Undertaker. It would be very fitting that the WWE would save this match-up for Taker's final match. If Taker beats Cena, Taker rides off into the sunset an "immortal" legend among legends. If Cena wins he takes the "torch" from a Superstar (the real meaning of that word, not the nickname the WWE calls everybody in the WWE) who's on a level all his own, above all the rest. THIS would be the biggest match in WWE history. The Rock, no disrespect intended, is awesome but he's not The Undertaker. Taker is in a class all by himself. This match wouldn't need any hyping. Everybody already wants it.

But as much as everybody wants this match we have to consider the price of admission. It's not that there wouldn't be enough people wanting to see the show to fill that stadium, it's finding enough people who have the disposable cash who can afford the travel costs and tickets (and merchandise, popcorn, soft drinks, etc).

Taker vs Cena could certainly main event a show that sets a new attendance record, but I don't believe WWE fans would be satisfied with Taker vs Cena and a bunch of filler matches. If the WWE expects to fill that stadium with 110,000 people they are going to have to pull out all the stops and produce an entire show that people want to see. Taker vs Cena and a bunch of filler matches won't sell out the arena, or do very well on PPV. Wrestlemania is 4 hours long and the most expensive (to watch) show in the WWE's year. To fill that stadium the WWE is going to need some very big names. Taker and Cena, of course. We don't know what the WWE will be like in two years, or who will be on the roster. But we can likely count on past big names like The Rock and Lesnar, possibly Triple H and Shawn Michaels in a DX tag team match. Perhaps Edge might be able to work a match (Edge will have nearly 3 years of healing and rehab on his neck by then; it's not impossible he could make a wrestling appearance). Stone Cold, as well. Perhaps Vince could even go outside the WWE and sign something like a one-time Sting vs Great Muta match just for this show.

It's impossible to even try to predict what other matches might be on the show. The roster may be very different from the roster they have now. TNA stars like Bobby Roode and James Storm might have signed with the WWE by then and be in contention for WWE world titles. Some WWE stars may have signed with TNA (or other promotions) by then. Davey Richards (from ROH) might have been enticed to sign with the WWE finally. Maybe The Briscoe Brothers, too. Who knows? We can't speculate at this very early date on anything other than Taker vs Cena, and the appearances of past big stars like Rock & Lesnar, etc.

Taker vs Cena could headline a WM that fills Cowboys Stadium but that match alone wouldn't do it. To get that many fans into the stadium the WWE will need to have a strong show from opening match to final bell. It will be a very expensive outing for those in attendance so the WWE will have to make it very worth their while.

    For sure.

The Undertaker and John Cena are two ow WWE's biggest stars currently. They are the cornerstones of the company. This was the match whom everyone in the whole d@mn world want to see. Fans young, old school, adult, etc will witness history once this match takes place.

This match is bound to happen and it would be such a waste if this match never happens. Hulk Hogan vs Andre The Giant symbolized 1980s era. This match had to happen to symbolize this era. I would prefer this match more than any match, and that's not even close.

I'm sure this match would be able to draw 108,713 and even more. I won't be surprised if 110,000 WWE Fans attend the PPV to see this match. This would be even a bigger match than Hogan vs Andre in my personal opinion.

This is not just a Wrestlemania main event match, this is a match for the ages, match of the century. We had one Phenom who had dominated his yard for 24 years and dethroned anyone who dared to cross his path in one corner, except for one man and that's John Cena. On the other corner, we had Face of WWE who had beaten them all except that Phenom, The Undertaker. So, both of these men had to finally fight to determine who's the better man. And what a better place to do it than Wrestlemania 30 and as The Undertaker's retirement match.

well i belive it would look at wm 28 rocks home town and undertaker home state plus a epic match between him and cena and on top undertakers last match ever on top if they set up a good card in all they would beat it big time so yes
