When Mrs. Romney bragged about giving 10% of their money to their Church, do you think she and Mitt give 10%?

Do you think they give 10% to the Poor People or People on Welfare ?

Update:

Mrs. Romney said that on an interview and 10% is a lot of money if they are Billionaire's. . They are Strong Members of the Mormon Church. So being he is running for President, I wonder if he will give 10% of his American Taxpayers Money to be deducted from his Salary as President ? I always thought that Religion and State should be kept separate. So if he gets to be President some of his wages will go to the Mormon Church?

Once it is paid to him as his salary, he can do with it as he wishes. That is not a church and state issue.

1 - as the democrats hound them to release more personal financial information, I don't know that you can call their actions "bragging", they seem to be trying to avoid that topic as it's personal.

2 - it's in their released tax records and now is a matter of fact rather than speculation. He gave over 16% to charities, being that that number exceeds the 10% it would be dumb to assume that they gave anything less than 10%.

3 - A large portion of LDS tithing and donations goes to charity, it goes to poor people and welfare and relief efforts that go far outside of the church. The LDS church is one of the largest charitable organizations on earth, almost the same size as Catholic Charities, works with Islamic charities, and normally provides a support structure under which the Red Cross operates.

4 - Romney has stated several times that we won't be taking a presidential salary - he didn't as Governor of Mass nor running the Olympics.

5 - What a person decides to do with their income has absolutely no bearing on church vs. state. To argue that it does is ridiculous.

Many people give their charitable contributions to their churches and let their churches distribute it to the poor. Most churches have better abilities to target the money to where it will do the most good and they have a wider range of people they contact with that money. Plus many churches have their own social programs that benefit the community in many ways.

Btw, Romney gave 15% of his money to charity (the average for people who are in his tax bracket is 2.1%), and Romney's giving is still 14% more than stingy Joe Biden did.

Once he is paid it is his money to do with as he pleases. What makes you think that you have the power to limit the POTUS, anyway? Your power is in your vote after that you will have delegated that power, however limited. And yes, as a Temple-worthy member 10 percent is tithed. It is only giving back to God some of what he gave you.

as with many churches 10% is a good starting point for donations to their church.

like others said it is not very godly to brag about it but in Romney's case he is running for president and has been asked this question.

I'm skeptical that she was "bragging" about it--I've had the impression that a 10% tithe is fairly conventional practice in the Mormon church for those members who can afford it.

Hell NO!!! Why would they, the probably give $50 a year to the Rich Relief Project = A project that helps poor billionaires that are struggling to not fall back into the Millionaire category...

Many people do. Moslems have a 20% yearly poor-due tax. That is not 20% of their income.... that is 20% of the value of all they own.

What makes you think they really give 10%?

Edit: Yes so as his salary is paid by tax money you will be donating to the mormons out of your taxes.

If they gave ANYTHING to those on Welfare, _I_ haven't seen a dime. IF they gave anything to any church, it was only for the tax deduction. You notice she only said "10%".
