Does the tag have to be attached to the product to return it?

Question

I bought a pair of sandals from Aeropostale yesterday and they hurt my feet so BAD! I put them on this morning while getting ready and wore them around my bathroom for five minutes and was already developing a blister..I ripped off the tag because I thought they'd be okay. I have the receipt and the tag it's just not on the shoes anymore. These shoes were 32 bucks so I'd really like my money back because I won't be wearing them. Do you think they'd take them back?

I had flip flops from there once and I took off the tag and thy were to small but thy won't accept anthing without a tag even with a receipt
