If you lived in Denver and wanted to go to the movies... would you think twice about it?
I live alone in Denver and am not usually a movie-going kind of guy. I think I've been to the theatre once in the last year (that wasn't in Denver, either). I'm more of a music guy - that's why I'm tempted to go to the theatre this Wednesday to see a one-night screening of a Grateful Dead film (one of my favorite bands).
If you only had one chance to see a film you'd really like in Denver right now, would you? I'm wondering if my friends will be kind of uneasy about it. Of course, we wouldn't go to Aurora - there are plenty of theatres in metro Denver.
Would you go? Would your friends?

I'm sorry to tell you this-sorry its the truth, but a mentally ill person can go nuts anywhere and kill loads of people if they wanted. There have been mass killings in classrooms, on trains, in nightclubs, movie theaters...no place is more or less target-prone than any other, as far as I can tell. If I wanted to go to a movie, I would. I would probably not go back to that particular theater-I don't think that's a place fit for enjoyment anymore, not because I believe it unsafe, because it feels disrespectful to the deceased.

The Denver area excluding columbine and Aurora are quite safe. Safer than most New York streets.

Huh? You are about a million times (not hypoerbole, fact) more likely to be killed in a traffic accident on your way to the theatre than be killed by a crazed gunman in the theatre. Anyone who is afraid to go to the theatre because of this crime should seek counseling.

I would definitely think twice about it, and then I'd go anyway.
Can't let fear rule our lives....
Besides, the chances are so slim of it happening again in that area.

Yes, I would, this is an isolated incident but heavily reported on which makes people think that it happens all the time.

of course i would go. if you were a true patriotic american, you would be resposible enough to excersise your freedoms and have a handgun for your personal protection. i hope i never need it, but i almost always have my colt 1911 on me just in case some fruitcake on bathsalts decides to attack me.
