When you are on SSI does each state give you different benefits? Is it based on the cost of living ?

Or do you receive the same county and federal benefits no matter what stat you live in. In other words if I move from California will my benefits be ths same in Florida?

Different states do offer different supplements to SSI on top of the maximum monthly SSI amount. In California it ranges from $120 to $407, depending on your current living arrangements. In Florida, there is not supplement.

thus, you could lose a significant amount of your monthly benefits.

The maximum federal benefit is $698 and is the same in all states. However, some states pay what is called a state supplement; most don't. The state of Florida doesn't supplement SSI.
