what do you need to become a school Speech Language Pathologist?

I've only just started researching it, and it seems like a job i might like. I would really love to work in a school in a smaller more personal setting than a classroom. Right now I'm going for a BS in biology (i was thinking about optometry for a while, but I don't know anymore), but I'm only going to be a junior in college this year so i can still switch it up without too much trouble. My school doesn't have a Masters in SLP program, but another (more expensive & much farther away) university does. I would really love to stay in my current university and transfer to the other for my masters. If this is possible, what do I need my Bachelors in? Education? Communications? Psychology?

Obviously I intend to do more research on the topic before I make it my career choice, but I would love to hear from anyone who went for or is currently going for SLP.

Thanks so much :))

A masters degree in SLP without the BS in it takes longer so be careful about that. An education major would be best (especially in Special Ed). The graduate programs are real competitive since there are a lot more graduates from BS SLP programs than there are openings in grad school. Get high grades.

via taking classes you're able to o.k. help your speech. To get a job you will might desire to bypass to graduate college. So, that is 4 years + 2~4 extra years i think. My chum is doing SLHS (Speech Language listening to Sciences) it fairly is the comparable component you're talking approximately. a important college for that's Purdue; and that i'm no longer too confident approximately the different good faculties for it. i understand they are obtainable, yet yeah. i think Indiana college additionally has a important SLHS branch.
