Diagnose connection problems?

every time I go to my computer, I get a Diagnostic Problem saying I'm not connected to the internet but i am, I have tried everything unplugged the modem, replugged it nothing works, I am connected yet am told that I'm not, what more can I do, my computer is 6 yrs. old, is it too old? should I have it repaired or buy a new one?

    Hi,

    No, it's not to old, it just has a slight problem.

    Can you actually get onto the net at all?

    If you can't then go to the control panel, system, device manager and look for the network adapters section and see if there is a yellow ? against the entry.

    If there is click on that to see what the problem is.

    I don't know how to fix that problem - but to comment on the age of the computer - I'd get a new one. A good refurbished one from ebay shouldn't cost much. Dual core or above...
