most state child protective services agencies allow anonymous reporting of child abuse; a report to the police will also get CPS involved

    You prove nothing.

You let the professional investigate and go by what they find.

    You start with DCFS

If they find any hint they call in the police.

Most departments either have their own specialists in the field or will call in specialists.

If you decide to "prove" what may be going on yu can ruin any proper victim centered interviews that will later be done by the professionals and absolutely nothing you learned or they learned will be admissible in court.

If you are wrong after calling DCFS they will close the file after a preliminary investigation.

BTW if he has "done something" it was not a one time thing.or something in the past for you to prove. That is not the nature of this type of live in or boyfriend molestation. The pros can tell just form a proper interview if things need a better and deeper investigation

Oh dear me, what a horrible position to be in. You must not bury your head in the sand over this. I think your first action would be to have a talk with your daughter and relay to her what your suspicions are and why you have them. Dont expect her to be grateful for your remarks and it could lead to a break with her, but you must do something. You could try a little bit of gentle conversation with the kids, but dont under any circumstance make it sound like an interrogation to the kids, otherwise they may just clam up and that will be the end of that. try to listen to what they say and make sure that you are getting the right message from them, make sure you are not misconstruing what they say.But do something if you are sure that something is going on. I dont envy your position one little bit, good luck with this one.

To the two folks that gave the thumbs down, Okay go to the cops, call in the CPA talk to the FBI why not the secret service while you are at it, have I missed anyone? Now what happens if this lady has perhaps gotten the wrong message and nothing untoward has happened at all. The family will be utterly destroyed and nothing achieved but a wrecked family. If this lady, who I am terribly sorry for because I would hate to be in her position, goes at it gently the truth will come out, one way or the other. It may be a serious case in which case the chips will fall where they may, it could be something as trivial as a chastisement that the kids are angry about, so to get at the truth a gentle hand is required, not go in like gang busters. As I previously said, a chat with her daughter is the first step, to talk over what the children have said and make a judgement from that.

    Call the cops..

Source(s): ....I am a retired police officer. I retired as a sergeant, after 29 years, from a very large department, about 12,000 officers. I was a patrol officer for 4 years in a very diverse area. I was a tactical officer in the high rise project areas of my city. We called it vertical patrol in that we walked the the stairways of the high rises most of the time. I did that for 5 years and was promoted by test to detective. I worked violent crime (homicide, sex, officer involved shootings, robbery, kidnapping, serious non property incidents) for 11 years until I was promoted to sergeant. I worked as a street supervisor, a bicycle patrol supervisor and a desk sergeant/watch commander. During my time as a tactical officer and a detective I was a unit representative for the police union. I have a B.A in English and an M.S. in Law Enforcement Administration....
