I will be going to Disney world for Easter break in 2013.?

I know this is one of the busiest times of the year to go unfortunately. Just how bad will the crowds be and the wait for rides?

Update:

Thanks Nemo, You set my mind a little more at ease. How long do you think a wait for one of the bigger rides would be on average at this time?

Just as Nemo said, it's not as bad as it's made out to be. I've personally gone at Thanksgiving (many times) and found it busy, but even that isn't terrible. And since Thanksgiving is generally worse than Easter, you should have no problem.

Still though, on many of the most popular rides you are going to find a couple hour wait. This is normal, and can happen even when the parks aren't in a busy season. But luckily there are things you can do to help!

First off, use Fastpass. This is a giant help. What you do is take your park ticket to a fastpass attraction and receive another ticket for you to return during a certain time, such as 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. There will also be a time printed on this fastpass ticket saying when you can get another one. When you are able to get a second fastpass, do it, as you can get another fastpass, and then head back to the ride you already have one for. A fastpass means you can skip the line, or most of it at least, and get onto the most popular rides. Watch out though, as during busy seasons these can run out within an hour of park opening, although generally they don't run out until the evening hours.

Also, head to the back of the park first, unless you're in Magic Kingdom. In Magic Kingdom, head right away to Adventureland and Frontierland. It is most common for people to head right out towards Fantasyland or to the right, Tomorrowland, so by going the opposite way to Frontierland and Adventureland you will be avoiding some of the crowds. In Epcot, get there right at 9 and when World Showcase opens at 11, head right away towards the back. I went a few days before Thanksgiving a couple years ago and did this...5 people, myself included, in the entire Japan Pavillion. As far as the Studios goes, head right to your number one attraction and get a fastpass, and then go watch one of the shows, like Indiana Jones or the Muppets. And finally, in Animal Kingdom, go right to the Safari, or grab a fastpass for Expedition Everest before you do so.

    I hope this helps!

Spring breaks can be throughout the month of March and a part of April. So crowds are not like they are at winter break-where all schools have the same dates off.

sweetie, they just are not average wait times. For major popular rides it can be 60-90 minutes. Get a Fast Pass for the rides that have them. Get to the park early and go on the popular rides first. Go on popular rides during parades-espeically th night time parades. go to the left when you enter the park-most people go to the right. go to the back of the park and work your way forward.

don't freak out with long wait times. The wait for one roller coaster was 120 minutes. My kids waited, went on the ride and were back by me in 75 minutes- I timed it.

go on single lines to get through faster

Don't worry its not as bad as people say. Its not nearly as bad as the week of christmas and new years. Get to the parks at opening and head to the big rides like Space Mountain first so you can get those out of the way. Then around lunch time when the park is really packed you can check out the less popular attractions.

Another tip is going to the back of the park first, then work your way forward. Most people do rides as they encounter them, which means the front of the park is busiest first.
