Omeprazole (Prilosec) and Anxiety?

I've been taking prilosec for a little over a year now due to a hiatal hernia I have. I've had bouts of anxiety come and go and didn't relate it much to the drug. However, a few weeks ago I had a series a very bad panic attacks and now I have terrible generalized anxiety for no apparent reason. I ran out of prilosec and stopped taking it for a few days and noticed my anxiety level went down. I bought more, started taking it again and bam! panic! Does anyone else have experience with this?

Anxiety is one of the myriad of side effects. I have taken Omeprazole on and off now for a couple of years. I just take them when I start to get that acid in the throat and stop when the symptoms have been gone for a couple of weeks. I have not felt the anxiety you describe. I take the generic pills as they are so much less expensive.

    I wish you well.
