Was I being a jerk for asking this question to my old high school buddies on Facebook?
"It's been forever since I've heard from you, how you been doing these days? I've been doing good, do you wanna get together sometime and go out for a smoothie or something like that? I would like for us to get together for a smoothie or coffee, I really miss hearing from you on Facebook and I feel truly blessed and fortunate to have you as one of my friends."
I really want to continue on where we left off from high school and want to spend more time with them

I don't think you were a jerk, nor do I think for a second you meant any harm.
Nevertheless, you did throw an awful lot at them without waiting for their reply to your original "how have you been doing" question...which *may* have suggested to them you really aren't all that interested in how they're doing; you just want "to get together for a smoothie or coffee," regardless. You might also have possibly sounded overly *desperate'*to renew your old high school friendships, suggesting you haven't been able to make any friends since...even though you may only have meant to say that the more you see of this (truly goofy) world, the more you realize how blessed you were to have such friends in high school.
However, if they're basically good-hearted people, they will readily recognize the utter earnestness and goodness underlying your question and genuinely appreciate it -- even if they *don't* have much time to get together for coffee/smoothie (life after high school can be insanely busy).
No matter what, here's hoping you have the chance to get together with your old buddies.

I would love to get that kind of post! There is nothing wrong with it except you limit it to smoothies and coffee. What if some of them are into health drinks and green tea?

nope, it's a genuine query.. if they don't enjoy the chance then they're the jerks.. technically.
just take yr time.. as it moves on quickly, you can ask again. when apart the heart grows fond.

of course not, you still cherish the good times you've had with these people and still care a lot for them which isn't a bad thing at all.

Well...if they think you're a jerk for asking that, they have some issues and aren't worth your time
