In the 45 presidents there aren't any female presidents, why don't we have any female presidents?

If every gender is equal in the USA. Then why don't we have any female presidents?

It's not necessarily about genders being equal. It's more about equal opportunity. A woman has the same opportunity to run for president just like any man. If the people don't want a woman as president, then it won't happen.

We haven't had 45 presidents. Barack Obama is 43rd though he is president #44. That's because Grover Cleveland did it twice. He was #22 and 24.

The United States has been existence for 223 years. For 131 of those years, women couldn't vote. Women have had the vote for 92 years. So it hasn't happened yet. There have been women candidates before but they were never taken seriously. The first one I remember is Margaret Chase Smith who tried for the Republican nomination in 1960.

We haven't had a female vice-president yet either. We've had 2 candidates but they both lost, Geraldine Ferraro and Sarah Palin. We haven't had a female Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. The first Associate Justice was appointed by Ronald Reagan, Sandra Day O'Connor. The first female Speaker of the House was Nancy Pelosi, which was previous to the one we have now.

It has only been a relatively short period of time that women could even vote. Most men of all parties still believe women aren't good leaders. AND... Gender is not equal in the USA. There is still a huge gap in pay between men and women doing the same jobs.

Unfortunately, even if this country was only made up of women voters, we most likely would vote for someone other than a woman because women have yet to see each other as ally's instead of competition. Good Question though....

I guess we as a country aren't ready for a female leader? I dk we barely had accepted a black president and remember even the black males could vote before the women. Maybe later down the road. I dk I thought Hilary Clinton was the great choice if there would be any Lady president

Simple: White (Male) Anglo Saxon Protestant Domination...you know, the same guys who - for Centuries- ensured that a women's place remained in the home. Ironically, just like the Civil War brought an end to 230 years of chattel slavery - WW ll ultimately liberated the American women from their role as domestics.

Who says genders are equal? Last time I checked, I can't have a baby. This is just stupid PC crap.

That said, it certainly doesn't mean that they are inferior. I think Hillary would have been much better than Obama.

Short answer, they have never had the most votes to elect them president.

America is sexist. They say they are equal but not really. Just look at the history it wasn't untill recently that women earned the same rights as men.

Because President Obama ran an expensive and dirty campaign against Hillary Clinton in 2008.

Because all these sexist pigs can't handle a woman running things.
