US Citizenship question?

My parents and I were born outside the United States. My parents have applied and have become US citizens years ago, so I automatically became a US citizen when they did(the child of a naturalized US citizen automatically becomes a US citizen).

But after I become 18, does that mean I have to go through the naturalization process and reapply for citizenship to become a US citizen since I am no longer legally dependent of my parents? This is what my parents are telling me but I'm not sure if this is true...

Update:

I do indeed have a US passport!

Is there any form of evidence that I need that I was under 18 when my parents were naturalized?

Update 2:

What if I'm over 18 and need to renew my passport, what kind of documentation will I need?

As long as you were under 18 when they were naturalized, your citizenship comes from them.

The quickest (and least expensive) thing to do is to apply for a US Passport. Otherwise, you can spend $600 and take months to get a Certificate of Citizenship (N-600).

To get the passport, your proof of citizenship will be your birth certificate, your green card, proving that you entered the country legally, and your parents' Naturalization Certificates. Apply at aan acceptance agency, usually a local USPS office.

Let me rephrase your question: I have become a US citizen by Act of Law. Do I now as an adult have to file for naturalization so that I can become a US citizen all over again? Is that what you are asking?

Answer: no. But you must be seriously intellectually challenged. Did your mommy drop you with the head first on the toilet when you were just a little boy?

To renew your passport, you need your old passport. If you lost your old passport, the US Department of State will look up your file where your proof of citizenship, the one that got you your first US passport, is documented.

No, you are a citizen for good. I was 14 when my parents became citizens. I'm 31 now and never had to reapply.
