AP Tips? (World History + Comparative Polisci)?

I'm going into my sophomore year and planning to self study for two AP exams the coming year: AP Comparative Govt and Politics, and AP World History.

My school uses the IB system so I don't really know anything about AP, and I was hoping for some general or specific tips:

- How long should I study for the two tests?

- How should I study (Any recommendations of textbooks, good resources..?)?

- What things are hardest on AP tests generally?

- What are the general expected grades for AP? <-- I'm a pretty good student, I catch on quickly in school (I hope :P), I've taken 3 years worth of general history classes in middle school, just got back from studying Legal Studies in EPGY Stanford summer camp, but no real previous experience with PoliSci... What grades can I expect? I'm willing to work hard.

- How important is AP? (How do unis see it etc.)

- Specifically for AP Polisci and History: For those of you who have taken either or both of these two tests, how hard are they? What things should I look out for?

And anything else you'd like to throw in there would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I heard AP Government was pretty easy as long as you did the coursework and took notes.

How long should I study for the two tests-I took AP World History and to be honest with you I did not study that much, but I always had good memory when it came to history so I did pretty well. I just recently got my score last month and I got a 4. You should study as much as possible.

How should I study-I used the AP World History book-"Earth and Its Peoples second edition" I also reviewed the quizzes from each chapter here is the link-http://college.cengage.com/history/world/bulliet/e...

What things are hardest on AP tests- I would probably say the comparative essays and DBQ

What are the general expected grades for AP- Most of my friends that took AP Gov. had a B. In my AP World History class the vast majority had either an B or C.

How important is AP- It is very important, it shows colleges that you can handle their coursework.

Specifically for AP Polisci and History- There are not many surprises in the AP World test, just practice on your written essays(DBQ, comparative essays etc)

    I hope this helps!

I took both. ( World as a soph and Comp as junior)

Study as much as you can and go to as many tutorial sessions as you can, Quiz-let is awesome, so is your Princeton review.

Use the textbooks you're given... take good notes that you can review over and over it's important to remember cause and effect.

Maybe the essays, sometimes you might end up not having a clue what to write, so you come up with BS.

I don't know, it depends on your teacher. I got all As.

It looks really good, shows your perpared acedemically if you score high.

I suggest going to the college board website for more general information and some detailed textbooks stuff (study guides)

The aforementioned site has it broken down as to what percentage of the test concerns what so maybe you can divide your time accordingly

It's only hard if you don't know what the question is discussing. use process of elimination, and if you're baffled, read the question a few times and each answer choice.

I received a 4 on both of the tests out of 5, and I think I didn't study all that hard, though I stressed over them a little.

Since you're willing to work hard, I don't see why you won't score high.

I took each. ( World as a soph and Comp as junior) gain knowledge of as much as which you would and go to as many tutorial intervals as you can, Quiz-let is first fee, so is your Princeton comparison. Use the textbooks you're given... Take exceptional notes that you can overview again and again it is foremost to consider reason and effect. Possibly the essays, normally you would come to be no longer having a clue what to jot down, so that you provide you with BS. I have no idea, it relies in your instructor. I obtained all As. It looks relatively just right, suggests your perpared acedemically if you happen to occur to score immoderate. I advocate going to the institution board website for more common know-how and a few designated textbooks stuff (gain skills of courses) The aforementioned website has it damaged down as to what percent of the scan disorders what so perhaps which you would divide your time accordingly it's exceptional elaborate if you don't know what the query is discussing. Use process of removal, and if you are baffled, study the question a few times and each reply alternative. I received a 4 on each of the assessments out of 5, and that i suppose i didn't be proficient all that difficult, despite the fact that I confused over them a bit bit. Since the fact that you are willing to work difficult, i do not see why you is not going to score immoderate.
