Very high idle on quadrajet?
I just rebuilt it for running rough sometimes and having a super high idle the next time. Now it's is racing away. I've checked for vacuum leaks with no success any thing else that could be to blame. choke is disconnected.
The vehicle is an 85 Chevrolet c-10 305/700r4

Is the throttle lever all the way against the idle screw? It may be the high idle cam on the right side of the carb that is not going all the way down allowing the butterfly to close. You also may have set the float level to high and it is allowing the fuel to be pulled in.

Sounds like a vacume leak , did you ck the hose going over to the brake booster .
