Why are most kitchen cabinets square..when dishes, cups, plates are round?

and appliances are too! Wouldn't SOMEONE have re-invented the shape, by the year 2012?

Update:

I do know that kitchens are square etc....My question was WHY hasn't anyone had any ideas to change all of this! Maybe I haven't made myself clear..soryy!

Update 2:

My point was that if the cabinets etc were round everything round that we eat from, would fit better!

1 - maximum space utilization - the biggest issue

2 - kitchens are square or rectangular

3 - cabinets are designed with a shelf depth to accommodate any plate shape

With square, you get more space. If you had round, then you'd lose space.
