Chihuahua puppy wont eat,or suck. How long will it take to see improvement from bottle feeding?

I have a six week old Chihuahua puppy. She would not eat and her mother would no longer nurse her. I was asked to take her and try to bottle feed her. She is very weak, she wont suck so I have been giving her a few drops of formula at a time, she spits up more. Does anyone know the time frame that I should start to see her become more active now that is getting nutrition.

Update:

What I am giving her is puppy formula recommended by a vet. Plus very small amounts of soft puppy food, the three other pups in the litter are healthy, and have been eating puppy food for a week, which is when my puppy started becoming weak from not eating. Which is why I took her early so I could look after her full time.

The pup needs to see a vet, ASAP. Puppies should start eating softened food/kibble between ages 3- 4 weeks. The pup has NO BUSINESS still being expected to NURSE. That's why the mother refuses to nurse the puppy. It probably has developed TEETH & the pain makes mother dogs wean puppies, even if idiot owners don't know the score. As puppies mature, they also can loose the ability to digest lactose. If the puppy is weak to the point of not eating it is very SICK. See a vet, ASAP or loose the dog to death. BTW, you weren't fool enough to give it cow's milk...were you?

Hi. First of all if you can, I would call a vet for advice. Do you have puppy formula? Cow's milk is not good for them, they will get diarrhea, but if you have no way to get anything else it can be used. I raised 4 four week old puppies on cow's milk and they are fine. (They will be 10 years old next month!) I had two that wouldn't suck. I squirted the bottle into their mouths for the first few days. You are going to have to feed them a lot because they're babies. I slept on the floor with mine for several weeks. If I were you, I would repost this question under "dogs". I bet someone who knows better then me can give you advice. GOOD LUCK!
