How to change profile picture without it being public?

I know I can remove the 'news' from my Timeline,,but some friends seem to be able to change their profile pic without it being all over Newsfeed..

The change is self-evident obviously, so is there a way to do it; without it being broadcast huge on everyone's Newsfeed page? I currently use a mac.

Thanks Catalan Nova... but that does not seem to be the case... friends' comments come up all the time- like it's on Newsfeed...because it's a huge coincidence if not!!! Ta anyway x

    If You Removed The News From Your Timeline Right After You Change Your Profile Picture It Won't Be Published On Your Friends News-Feed Page .
