  • The Hobbit: The Shire is not mentioned?

So I've only seen all the films. But am now reading The Hobbit (and about to read L.O.T.R)

My Q is why The Shire is so often talked of in the LOTR films, but not mentioned in Bilbo's story in The Hobbit (book) rather, the Hill.

Considering Frodo etc go on about it all the time (in the films anyway) I'm curious.... :)

  • Ebay refunds...How to?

First time for me, wanting refund for ebay purchase...I'm supposed to post back the item to the (private)seller, and let her know when I've posted it. Fine. But what guarantee do I have my money will be reimbursed?

Is my 'PayPal' supposed to look after this perhaps?

Thanks in advance for any experience and tips, before I mail it ;)

  • Replacing hard drive in Macbook Pro with SSD?

My hard drive on my Macbook Pro has died. Apple Store are saying I can replace it with the same thing for about £50 - or with an SSD for £150... SSD sounds very appealing - though I don't know a lot about the pros and cons. Any tips about whether to go for it and what models are good would be really appreciated!

I think my Macbook had 300GB hard drive space (can't access it as I can't get it to startup), 13" and is 2-3 years old. I do various things like video editing and graphic design on it. Thanks in advance! X

  • Keeping bread fresh...?

Newly installed central heating in my whole apartment block has made kitchen so warm (don't have heater on in there) that bread is going green so soon.

Keeping in the fridge is even worse and speeds up bacteria.

So any tips please? Or do i have to keep it in a dark box by an open window or something silly?

    Cheers..

  • How to change profile picture without it being public?

I know I can remove the 'news' from my Timeline,,but some friends seem to be able to change their profile pic without it being all over Newsfeed..

The change is self-evident obviously, so is there a way to do it; without it being broadcast huge on everyone's Newsfeed page? I currently use a mac.

    Thanku anyone for help

    :)

  • New bras... Are they really good?

The 'Aha', 'Belviere', etc; all smooth & elasticated ones we see all over tv shop sites etc..

Are they any good; esp for smaller busted, 40yr+ ladies?

I HATE ordinary bras - so uncomfortable!

My worry is, before I go ahead and purchase these 3 pack deals... that being only an A-B cup, (English/British size)....they will actually just FLATTEN me rather than 'enhance'; like the standard bra does; inspite of horrid under-wire & in-built padding.

My boobs are not saggy in the least(!) but b'cos they are not 'big' - I fear the elastic-ness would just constrict and flatten my shape?!

Thanks ladies for understanding and for your informed opinions :)

  • Too much black pepper in my soup!?

Accidently poured rather than shook ground black pepper into my lovely chicken & veg soup I'm making..

I know it's a long-shot but is there anything to counteract this overpowerment?

    Thanks cooks!
