Every time I click on a link it opens it in a new tab?

I have tried fixing this by the two ways I found when I searched it. I have opened my Chrome Toolbar and the box is unchecked on the tab. It has really irritated me that a new tab is opened every time i click on a link. Best answer to whoever fixes my problem

Update:

My computer didn't use to do this. I've had it for over a year and its just started doing this a week ago. So I'm pretty sure it can be changed.

need to type in about:config in a tab in the Firefox web browser. This should open the Firefox configuration. First time users need to accept a disclaimer. They then need to search for the term browser.link.open_newwindow. The default value of that entry is 3 which opens links that would normally open in a new window in a new tab. click on this and change the value to 1 and your done.
