Should I get rid of my truck?

Considering the best way to improve fuel mileage is to drive using a different style, keeping the truck might be a good idea. It is rated at 14-18 mpg, so there should be ways to reach that with no trouble. I can beat EPA figures on my cars when I put my mind to it.

Also maybe it would be wise to shop for a beater that gets better mileage. I have known to many of us (myself included) that gave up a pick up truck only to realize how useful it was. There is a very good chance you can find a beater for less then you will loose if you trade it off.

Hi, well it depends on what is the MOST important thing to you. Searching for additional economy is usually not very productive. Just maintaining proper tune, tire inflation etc and learning specialized economical driving techniques will be more productive. Remember changing vehicles is usually quite expensive, buys a lot of fuel. Do home work now on what you would like to own then start looking for deals, the most important thing is to be honest with yourself. For example whatever size/group I am looking at I have a priority of performance over fuel economy. Having said that,3 seconds slower o to 100 is not a deal breaker.

I'm not sure that truck isn't a ticking itme bomb. 04-05 F150s were crummy trucks compared to later models. If the windows aren't falling into the doors and the engine isn't eating cam phasers, then you might actually have a keeper in retrospect.

After all of that work,sweat and money you have put into it I don't thing you should get rid of it.It would be cheaper to fix it because no dealer will really give you the value of it regardless of all of the work/parts you've put into it.Check out some of the Ford F-150 forums for technical help.

If you can keep it as a backup...i blew my hemi engine....but still got the old chevy damned glad too
