If you've lived and worked in the US and paid into it, you're eligible. I draw SS benefits plus I receive a state pension that I paid into. The key word is paid into but there are even exceptions to that.

In the U.K. many pensioners receive social security because their pension is insufficient to live on. Everything is taken into account when assessing needs - savings being the most obvious. If a person has a works pension as well as a state pension and has saved well because they always had a good salary then they are unlikely to receive further help but if a person has only a state pension (in some cases not even a full one) and little or no savings then their pension will be topped up with one benefit or another to make it the amount that the state says is the minimum required to live on. For people who have saved they will receive no help until their savings are down to a certain amount because the first *****thousands of pounds are discounted. I don't know the actual figure for that. They are expected to live off those savings initially.

Depends on how the pension is set up. Nevada does not pay into Social Security for it's employees retirement, that means city, county and state employees. As such I will never get Social Security as I had not paid enough before I began working for the county. There are other states who have the same program while other states have different deals with Social Security and their pension include Social Security.

My husband gets a state pension, but he receives Social Security benefits from my having paid into it. They did not pay into Social Security, but to the state. If you paid into Social Security so many quarters, then you can receive it.

If you are on a basic state pension in the uk of £107 a week you can get council tax and housing benefit, pension credit to make your pension a bit better, and there may be a couple of other things you can get,ask the work and pensions people, all this depends on how much savings you have,or any 2nd pension you get. Most of us get the state pension, but after that it depends how much other income you get.

Yes. But there might be tax consequences or some effect on benefits. You should talk to the Social Security folks. Then if there seems to be the potential for a problem, perhaps get a lawyer.

In the U.S. if you receive a defined pension from your employer you are still entitled to your Social Security benefit if you have worked enough.

Yes. What often happens is once you go on social security, your pension amount is decreased. Plus many pensions will decrease automatically once you are old enough to get social security.

Yes, I get a pension check and also my wife and I get a social security check. When I die my wife will get my pension check and half of my social security check.
