What is the best way to deal with grown children struggling with their finances?
Grown son has gotten married about 3 years ago. They have a son who will turn 3 this summer. They tried to relocate in the midwest but moved back to the East coast....just prefer it there. His wife missed her hometown. Son left college when he was in his teens and left our town for the coast. When he turned 30 he decided to go back to college...did well. Both he and his wife have big student loans. I have helped him over the years...car and money for books to fly home etc. During the time he went back to college I was happy to help. Believe me I would love to pay off his loan but if I do, it would compromise my retirement. He decided to go back to college and I didn't question how he was going to do it. He got a couple of scholarships....living expenses. I feel lousy....bad parent and the GUILT. Now that they have relocated they cant afford to fly home to visit. Hate that for my elderly parents....who adore the great grandson. I just don't know what to do? Tough love when the are almost 40??? Should I suggest that they see a credit counselor.....get them some self help DVDs???

1 AnswerOther - Yahoo Products5 years agoDaughter, husband and Grandson moving to west coast......how to feel? Part of me feels this is a mistake.?
She and her husband of 2 years are in their 39s. They are very settled yet. Grandson is 2 years old. Tried to settle in the Midwest....lower expenses and all of my daughters family is here. My son in law is homesick and wants to go back to the coast. Never had lived elsewhere. So scared that he is never going to settle and take care of his family. When they leave they may never see some of her family again. Grandparents and such. I want to be positive and send them off as happily as possible. BUT I am not happy. NOT convinced that this is the right thing. Don't have the money to make this right if it doesn't work. WILL miss them and all the missed times/experiences with my grandson. I have had anxiety difficulties over this but am now coping. Haven't discussed with them the fact that I have doubts about this and the monies are limited. HAVE said that they are always welcomed back here. That way if all else fails they can come home.....wont be in the street. Should I discuss my fears with them? Should I remind them that there is a bottom to my purse? Need them to know that they need to make decisions like they don't have me as a safety net. How positive should I appear? I know you are supposed to love people with a open hand. I am confused, sad and broken hearted.

1 AnswerWomen's Health6 years agoHow can I get a friend to change their feelings about their birthday? Because of some negative happenings.?
Such as an uncle died, friend lost a pet, the Challenger disaster. I casually mentioned that I had lost a neighbor and now.....drama. I am not an insensitive person..........but this has me walking on eggshells. Love this person but I find it childish. Seems to me if you look for the negative....you will find it. Ideas or thoughts?

1 AnswerOther - Yahoo Mail7 years agoRegarding a legal will. is the inheritance issued AFTER the decease's outstanding debts are paid?
Two people are named to inherit from a will. One person got power of attorney to pay bills during the father's few recent hospitalizations. The person is now back at home but this person continues to keep the checkbook and is using those monies and the father's credit cards for their own use. Something tells me they are getting their inheritance up front. If the father passes away with a bunch of credit card debt, how will that be handled?

1 AnswerPDAs & Handhelds8 years agoChecked luggage with Delta?
I plan to check our luggage when we fly Delta. Can I put a small padlock lock on so the bags are extra secure?
6 AnswersAir Travel8 years agoDelta carryon measurements-The 45" doesn't mean the extended handle right?
Trying to decide if our luggage needs to be checked or not. Delta has the 45" regulation. Measure the width, depth and height....including wheels and handles. But surely not the pull out handle in the extended position. Also the dimensions of the carry on test area are not the same dimensions as my suitcase but could both add up to the same 45". Clarification would be welcome.
2 AnswersPacking & Preparation8 years agoHow long did it take to recuperate from a burst appendix?
I had emergency surgery on June 23rd for a burst appendix. Symptoms were not like in the movies!
I Had laparoscopic surgery and antibiotics for 4 days. Was released and have been back to work for 2 weeks. Felt I was doing well. BUT Have to tell you there are afternoons that I get TIRED. No fever or any other symptoms. I know with a reinfection from the burst appendix there would be fever and some pain I imagine. Little worried cause the pain from the burst appendix wasn't as bad as I would have thought. Input??? How have other similar recoveries gone???
1 AnswerRespiratory Diseases8 years agoWhy are they acting like this?? This just makes everything so much harder than it needs to be.?
My husband is retired. He has 2 part time jobs and we deal in antiques and flea market. We do a local flea market together and he does one about 3 hrs away,4xs a year by himself. I still work so I don't go with him on that one.
I have my parents and sister and brother in law in town. They are making me nuts. They don't like that he goes to the 3 hr away flea market. Even though, I am fine by myself....enjoy the me time. This particular day my daughter is having her baby and they think he should be home with me to receive the text from them in Oregon. I am keeping him posted on the cell. We are going out there next month. Why he needs to stay in town to be with me to get the call I can't say. We all have cells and he plans to call them in Ore once the baby is here. Now this eve my Mom said something about my health!!!! I had my appendix out almost 3 weeks ago laproscopic and the Dr has released me a week ago. I know my Mom and sister hash this over and over. I am way past the age where they should be imposing themselves on me and my husband this way. I try to understand that this comes out of caring. However it is getting old......I don't want to talk it over with them as I don't know if I can remain calm. We are in a family business and have to be together a certain amount and have to make the business work. So I really try to overlook as much as possible.
2 AnswersFamily8 years agoNeed an opinion on this family matter.....please.?
My husband and I live in Indiana and my daughter is in Oregon. She and her husband are expecting their first. In fact the baby will most likely come today. My husband is doing a flea market this weekend and leaving later today. I am keeping him posted all day and we are flying out there next month. Cannot believe that I got a comment from a family member that....'Isn't he changing his plans with the baby coming today?' We are thousand miles apart and keeping posted with text and phone. Guess they think we should be physically together during this time. I am not a callus person but just thought we can share the event together via phone and celebrate with a dinner wine when he gets back....and in August we will go visit!!!! Am I wacky????
