Is it appropriate to have another attorney check over the executors work in the settling of an estate, beneficiaries and disbursement?

Shouldn't be necessary if the executor is an attorney. If the executor is one of the beneficiaries however, someone else should probably review the settlement before the funds are disbursed. All of the beneficiaries are entitled to see an accounting of the settlement.

Sure, it shouldn't be a problem. You're just getting a second opinion.
