I'm looking for a job as a school nurse. They want experience but don't want to pay for it!?
I live in Mountain Home, Arkansas and have been looking for a job for 6 months. Everybody wants experience but don't want to pay for it. So they end up hiring somebody with no experience as they can get them cheaper. I've offered to work for LPN/LVN pay even though I'm an RN and that wasn't tempting enough to land a job. I've looked outside the medical field but as soon as they see I'm a nurse, they say I'm over qualified! So any suggestions on what to do other than move?????

I get the feeling that something else here is the issue. When Attornies and MBAs are working at Walmart, 'overqualified' isn't something that you hear too much of in this job market.
I'm also hearing two "reasons" for you not finding work.
1. No one wants to pay you what you feel your value is
2. You are overqualified
For #1, you'll have to lower your salary expectations to what the market is at. If you aren't willing to do that, you will have to move or continue to be unemployed until something opens up in your salary range.
For #2, you need to delve further into this. I'd contact these people back and ask for an honest reason as to why I wasn't hired. I'd tell them to be brutally honest. I'd then take that information and work towards changing whatever I can.
