Weekend downtown Atlanta with no car?
I am curious about the Megabus so I was thinking about taking it from my home in Orlando to Atlanta. I have driven through Atlanta and stopped at the Varisty and I have been to the airport a million times but I have never been into the city and checked it out. I do not want to go if downtown Atlanta has nothing to offer without a car. I am not going to rent one. I hear Marta is great but would love to just be able to walk to place maybe catch the train and go a couple stops.
The megabus drops off at the Marta Civic Center and I noticed some nice hotels. I am thinking of staying at the W or Marriott but other suggestions are good. Does Downtown have any good bars or nightclubs? I noticed the Georgia Aquarium and World of Coke is there but are there any must see or do downtown. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Going to Downtown Atlanta with no car? Yikes, I hope you have a gun.
JUST kidding. I don't actually live in Atlanta, I live between Newnan and Senoia, both in the countryside but at 1 hour away from Atlanta. But I've been there alot, Atlanta has much to offer without a car. You can go to the CNN center, World of Coke, Atlanta Aqaruium. Tyler Perry studios, there's many many things you can do. Just please, do NOT go at night.

I've never stayed at the Marriott or W, can't help you there.
There's not much in the way of bars or clubs downtown, most of the clubs are up around Buckhead. There's some bars around midtown but it's the center of gay Atlanta so don't go if that would freak you out. Several years back the city passed an ordinance forcing bars to close at something like 2:30, that really hammered the bar scene in Atlanta.
In downtown itself the Aquarium, Centennial Park and the World of Coke are the big draws. If there's anything going on at the Fox theater it might be worth a visit. Or a tour if you're into the old-time theaters. Atlantic station often hosts festivals and special events like Cirque du Soleil or the Bodies exhibition. They run a free transport shuttle from the MARTA Arts center station.
The MARTA Civic center station is only a couple blocks from the infamous Pine street homeless shelter so be prepared for panhandlers, especially if you venture East, towards the Civic center.

The Marta is a great way to get around ATL, and makes a stop at Peachtree Street, which is in the heart of downtown. The W is out of the way from downtown, however the Marriott isn't. Another good hotel in downtown is the Westin. You should check out the Georgia Aquarium, and World of Coke, as well as tour the CNN headquarters. You should also take some time to go to midtown and visit Piedmont park and the Atlanta botanical gardens. My 3 favorite restaurants in Atlanta are No Mas (Mexican), Fogo de Chao (Brazilian in Buckhead), and The Sun Dial (fine dining).
LIST OF NIGHT CLUBS:
Opera
Clearmont Lounge
The Tabernacle
The Masquerade
And like what "Warrior for Liberty" said "DO NOT" go wandering the streets at night..

i could purely take MARTA. Parking isn't nicely well worth the fee and hassle. quite many of the biggest attractions are interior strolling distance of the different, besides: the Georgia Aquarium, the recent international of Coke, CNN middle, Centennial Olympic Park, Underground Atlanta (the place you may catch a trip to a Braves activity at Turner container), the Georgia Dome (once you are going to a soccer activity), Phillips area (if a stay overall performance, hockey activity, or basketball activity is on your schedule). there's a vacationer loop bus which could take you to places that are no longer interior strolling distance.
